I think it is time to replace my shocks on my 06 Sr5 PreRunner taco.
It has 167K miles on the OEM shocks.

This is all new to me an I'm looking for advise on how to approach this.
I called a shop and they said that I can't just install new shocks.
They said I needed other stuff like struts, bearings, etc.

Not too sure how valid that is, but I was just hoping to buy some 5100 Bilsteins from Amazon and find a shop/someone to install it.

I have a 2WD and do very little off roading (mostly gravel/hard dirt roads).
Truck is on pavement 99% of the time and mostly has freeway miles.
I have a camper shell in the back and only load it up with camping gear (very little hauling).

Wanted to reach out to TW for advise.

    Thanks!

The rear shocks are basically 2 nuts and should take 30 mins to replace.

Front shocks will need a little extra time. Since you are replacing the shocks, might as replace the coil also since you are taking it out.

It appears you won't need upgraded shocks because you are 99% road. Go online and shop for stock shocks at any auto parts website. You will also get a lot of replies about upgrading to Bilstein 5100s. I have them and they are really nice.

I am 95% sure you will be good to go. They will be an upgrade for sure. Looks like they came off a 4x4 Tacoma

Hopefully someone can confirm the suspension did not change with the 3rd gen. Make sure before you buy

agreed, i am reaching out to the buyer.
its looks like a pretty simple bolt on, or am i missing something?

I'm wondering if a buddy or pep boys would do the install for me if it is that simple.

The rear shocks are very easy. Front struts will take a little longer. I used this video

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E6u7dC7EHg

I did my lift 3 years ago and I spent a full 8hrs doing it by myself in my garage with just 2 floor jacks. Just the shocks and struts should take 4 hours or so.
