Yes to that Toyota gasket stuff, that was recommended to me by another mechanic and I've used it for oil pans and crank case covers with great results!

Hello all, reviving an old thread.
So I somehow managed to strip my plug and now it just spins but does not come off.
No oil is leaking but thinking it’s best just to replace the whole lower oil pan.
Called the stealership and they quoted just shy of $800.00 which is a bit steep.
    Could use some advice please
    .
How can I get the plug off if it’s just spinning?
If I can’t get the plug off can I (carefully) drill a small hole to drain the oil?
Can I just use a gasket or do I need silicone for the sealant?
I plan on just replacing the whole oil pan.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Get a screwdriver behind the shoulder of the plug, and apply some pressure when loosening. That should get it free to come out.

If you already plan to replace the pan, drill a hole to let the oil drain.

    Job completed.
It’s recommended to wait a few hours to add oil, about how long should I wait to drive?

Did you get it done without removing diff?

‘05 2.7 4x4 It looks possible without removing the differential just really tight.
