I will be replacing my front Pro comp 3” of lift coil-overs with the 600lb springs Bilstein 6112 set at clip #4. The main reason is because I can’t adjust the pro comps and with the angle that it puts on my CV axle it tears up my boots, which I replaced once before and it’s getting that time to replace again due to the boot fins rubbing. I will be replacing the cv axle also.
So with the 6112 set on the 4th clip according to the chart I received with the coil overs it should put me at about 2.1” of lift.
I will give a full report with all the before and after pictures and inches of lift results. when all said and done I should have about .5” to 3/4” of rake.
I’m leaving the rear pro comp shocks and 1.5” AAL. I will be replacing the rear shocks with the Bilstein 5160 at a later time.

sounds like not even a truck

how about you go and get yourself some high angle CV boots for $25 like you were supposed to

getting nice Bilsteins just to fuck them up with preload instead of putting a tall spring on them like everyone knows you're supposed to
    interesting

I can't imagine wasting my time tearing back into a 4x4 truck to make it lower
    and money on parts
Doing that would make me feel retarded
The point is kind of to clear obstacles
you do that with ride height

    rake is up to you
AAL is not much lift. People usually combine AAL with spacers or a whole leafpack.
Which would probably require more than 2" up front to rake that or be near even

clearly noted,I will keep that in mind.
I think it will look pretty good when I get done. This is my daily driver so I’m on the pavement 98% of the time.
The AAL added 1.5” of lift so I’m good with that.
I will see how it sits when I get done, who knows I might take them back off and set the clip on the 5th notch. ‍♂️

I am so confused by this post. If the boots are being torn then you need a diff drop to correct the CV angle. Even after replacing the boots it doesn't change the fact that the CV is at too much of an angle and will wear out very quickly. Look at all the trucks that do some serious off roading. They are 2.5"-3" of lift. There is very little that you need more for. If more lift is required for the trails you hit, you might as well do a solid axle swap and just go nuts.

No one is messing up Bislteins by changing the lower spring perch height. I don't know if I've seen a single 6112 fail in my research. Bilstein wouldn't haven't made them to fail, there is a good amount of safety margin built it. In fact many people install 650lb springs on the top clip setting for around 3" of lift on a truck with no armor.

AAL AND blocks!? What!? Why in the world would you spend about $350 on AAL, blocks and U-Bolts on the crappy stock leaf springs?? Get some All Dogs leaf springs or others for around $650 and do it right! They ride a hell of a lot better and don't sag as much when loaded.

@2015Tacoma4x4 Please don't follow that dudes advice. It's trash! You'll love the 6112's, they ride amazing!!! A bit soft for me so I may jump up to the 650lb springs at some point and lower the clip position. There is a WHOLE thread on just the 6112's in the suspension section. It's a lot of info to sift through, but there are many great setups in there.

Here's the setup on my 2015 DCLB (Double Cab Long Bed if you don't know the lingo yet).
-6112 front clip 5 drivers side/clip 4 passenger to address the drivers side lean.
-B110 5100 rear - B110's are an extended length 5100 (16.34" collapsed/27.28" extended) which requires taller bump stops and extended brake lines due to how much more down travel they have. The "standard" rear 5100's (14.02" collapsed/22.94" extended) are fine but they limit down travel and if the rear is lifted your resting height is that much closer to the extended length of the shock. Both are valved the same so ride wouldn't change between the two.
-Old Man Emu Med leaf pack
-GM bump stops (PN 15712438). I chose these since they are taller and are progressive rate bump stops, like the high dollar ones. Sure you can get Timbrens or Super-Bumps and they are great and probably better, but for me I wasn't willing to spend $200 on bump stops. The GM ones are about $40 for 2.

You seem to be getting some hate here, but I have this exact setup you're talking about and love it...although I do wish it was slightly taller ;)

The 4th clip does NOT pre-load too much at all IMO. Coming from a 55,000km stock setup to this is amazingly smoother.

    Bilstein 6112 (4/4 - I may try 5/5 in the future)
    SPC UCA's
Bilstein 5100 rear (just the regulars, not extended B110 as mentioned above)
ICON AAL with overload left in (~2")
    Voila:

I am SOOO jealous!!! That is a very rare combo with Spruce Mica on a DCLB! I was looking for exactly that in a TRD Sport but of course never came across one when I was looking. Settled on Pyrite Mica, which I also like a lot.

Did you paint match the bumpers? I thought the SR5 only came with chrome bumpers.

OP, sorry to get off track. lol

Haha thanks! Pyrite was my second choice as well in case I couldn't find the spruce. Your truck looks great! The rear bumper is just plastidipped black right now. Eventually I'll be getting the grille and perhaps rear bumper painted green.

You're right, SR5 only came in chrome. TheTRD 'Spruce Micah' badges are a little misleading - and heresy to some on this forum lol

Lol, there was a little hate, it just made me laugh.
Thanks guys for the positive feed and advice. I’m loving your rides, looking good. I really liking y’alls wheels!

I’m ready get the 6112 install, it’s driving me crazy. I’m taking off work the whole week of the 4th, so I’ll have a little free time to get them on.
Ever since I put the pro comps on I’ve been a little nose high. Having the 6112 on the 4th clip it’s going to bring the nose down to we’re I should have hopefully a nice rake.

    What size tires all running?

I’m running 275/70/17. I know there not a standard size, but they were the right price.. and to find out they fit perfect under the truck.

I like that badge too. Looks factory but makes a guy take a second look. lol Really digging the wheels on that thing too. Do you know if they made a DCLB TRD Sport in Spurce Mica? I don't know that I have seen one.

In the pictures above on mine I have 33x10.50r17 Kenda Klever RT on FN Wheels Six 17x9. They only offered the six shooter in 17x9 the first year or so of production and not many were sold since most people got 17x8. I would have preferred the 17x8 but I got these for a steal! Paid $550 for a set of 5 with 4 almost new Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude tires, sold the tires for $400, picked up Bronze/Gold Plasti-Dip from Dip Your Car since these were black when I got them and I wanted the Bronze ones. I HATE black wheels because they look like steel wheels from a distance so why pay all that money for nice wheels if they have no character?? Plus every Tom, Dick and Harry bro-dozer in my area has black wheels, I like to stand out a little. lol So long story short I got a set of 5 wheels for about $225.

I had 265/70r17 (31.7" OD) Duratracs C-Load on prior to the Kendas. The Duratracs were great tires, especially in the snow. I just got the Kendas (about 60lbs ea) a few weeks ago and I do like the tires but the size and weight are definitely noticeable compared to the Duratracs (44lbs ea). I am excited to see how they do in the winter. A local Taco buddy of mine puts a crap ton of miles on his truck and has experience with a lot of tires. He ranks the Kendas pretty close to the Duratracs in winter weather. The reason I chose the Kenda is because it fits with no trimming due to the width. A 285/70r17 is the same OD but about 1" wider and on most Tacomas they rub when compressing the suspension while turning. Most of the time a cab mount chop will solve that.

Sorry for the rambling. Since you're new I like to give a little more info instead of assuming you already know all the common Tacoma stuff. Also it helps other forum creepers.

Here is when I had the 265/70r17 Duratraces. The "before" was when I had 3rd gen TRD Off Road suspension (adds about 1.25" in the front, no lift in the rear) and the "after" is the combo posted earlier.

    I've got 275/75/16 Toyo R/Ts in load E

Likely going to 285 next time. Although the 265 is very practical.

There's 3 DCLB spruce mica SPORTs within 15km of where I live - so they definitely exist! I seem to live in the capital of spruce mica's.
