So I found a small crack in my radiator today and will need to replace it but I am having a hard time figuring out exactly which one fits my truck. There seems to be a 22 3/8", 20 3/4", and an 18" radiator but not sure which one I need. I have a 2001 4wd with the 3.4L with manual. Any help give would be awesome so I can get rolling again and can't find a definitive answer.

Just call a parts counter and tell them what truck you have. I want to say its the 18 3/4" one, though in my catalog im seeing different sizes for the same truck. You may get one with an A/T cooler, just leave the bottom ports plugged.

If you want to use Amazon, just order both and return the unused one.

I am actually looking at snagging one off eBay because I can get the same radiator that Amazon and rock auto sells for about $20 cheaper so I have to do my homework and make sure it's the right one. Thanks

You need to get a tape measure and measure it like is suggested. You don't want to get one and not have the mounting bolts line up...

I don't even chance it any more. Pull the old one out and take it to any parts place and have them MATCH theirs to yours. If you still wanna save $20 at that point go and buy it on eBay... or spend the $20 and get it the same day. :D

Vasinvictor is right. Me and the guy at advance auto weren't familiar with all the sizes and took a guess. We got it right the third time. So unless you want get awesome at replacing radiators in a tacoma, take a minute to measure.

It's top to bottom of radiator from highest to lowest point on the metal- not bolt to bolt. You can measure without even removing it.

So the measurements I got were not any of the 3 measurements listed by the parts parts store or rock auto. I got aobut 21.5" from metal to metal and then from top to the entire radiator was just over 24" from the top of the plastic to the bottom of the plastic. The radiator has never been replaced so wondering what I either did wrong or ???

Sorry, maybe it's between the tanks on the "core". I just did this a few months ago, thought I remembered correctly... Try measuring between tanks vertically.

So just measure from the inside space of the core? so not the the high spot of the metal vertically? I am guessing that will give me my 20 3/4" core height which is what rock auto says so I'll check it out

http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html Try this put in your VIN number and it'll give you the OE part number you can cross reference. I'm guessing it's the 20 3/4" too... the longest one should be for automatic with built in trans cooler

Alrighty, so now I am really confused. So it is indeed 20 3/4" core but mine does not have trans cooler outlets and every radiator that I find with a 20 3/4" core has trans cooler outlets on the bottom and I can't seem to find one that at least doesn't show that in the picture.

You'll just use that one with the cooler outlets but you'll leave the rubber plugs that come on the ends of those lines.

Yea. You can use the one for a A/T truck, just leave the oil cooler ports pluged.
