I have 2016 AC on order with the Utility Package. I'm happy to not have the rear seats but it comes with a non opening rear window which I think I will want to replace with a sliding option.

Anyone know if a 2nd generation rear windows will fit in a 3rd generation AC? Thanks.

Mine has the sliding window, (which I will never open) but I prefer the one piece window.

If I were closer to Illinois (I'm in Colorado) I would offer to trade. Probably cost as much to ship a window as it would to buy it though.:(

I would not trade anyway. I would be afraid of a leak once they were swapped out.

Had 3 Tacomas all with sliding windows. First regular cab was great having the window right behind me, easy open, reaching behind. Nice air flow. Next 2 were AC , never opened the window again after the first few times as it was more a pain to reach from the front. Having to close it for security at every stop, another pain. They really need to make these power.
One thing I noticed when I moved to the access cab, the wind flow thru the truck with the rear slider open was less than pleasant. That extra cab space messed with the aerodynamics of the flow or something. Regular cab was great, AC not so much. YMMV, just my 2cents.

I find I use the rear window on my '87 Toyota pickup frequently when transporting small numbers of 8 - 10' lumber. I just stick it in the back and pass the extra 2 -4' through the window. I would agree that I pretty much never use it for air flow. I'm sure I can get used to tying it down in the bed but old habits die slowly.
