So, I have a 2006 DCSB, 6 speed manual. I currently have the 6 inch rough country lift. I was able to get rid of the lift block in the back by replacing my leaf springs with some custom alcans that maintained the height. But now that I've come into a little bit of money (yeah stimulus!), I'd like to remove the spacer in the front as well and get some struts that can make up the difference. Any recommendations on what struts would be a viable swap to replace the stock struts and the spacer? I need a softer ride, and now that I can afford it, I might as well try to do it properly this time. Suggestions? Comments? Concerns? Thanks in advance!

Easy to do. Most places sell a larger size coil over that lets you ditch the spacer. I used to be on rough country lift with full size icons back in the day. They are a little on the spendier side tho.

So what size would I be looking for? I don't think it would go over too well if I walked into Autozone and asked for a stock tacoma strut plus 6 inches, lol!

Autozone or O'Reilly's isn't going to know what you need.

So I had ICONs. They have several different options. https://www.iconvehicledynamics.com/products/?fit=1&model=Tacoma

These are the ones I had https://www.iconvehicledynamics.com...-up-tacoma-25-vs-rr-coilover-kit-w-procomp-6/

I don't know where you are located, but you can call your nearest 4WP Store. Ask them for what you need, ask questions, pick their brains. Settle on a brand that you want, act like you're going to buy them, have them email you a quote with the part number of the shocks you want. Then take your time and shop around.

I had a Fabtech 6" lift on my 2007 Tacoma when I purchased it. However there was 1.5" drop in the back of the truck. Even though the rear has the new toyota recall leaf springs installed last year, has an additional helper spring, and a 1.5" block there was still a rear sag. I had to replace the 1.5" blocks with 3.5" blocks just to level it up. It looks great now but I am not sure how those leaf blocks affect the overall ride of the truck since I don't have anything to compare it too. I have heard the rear lift blocks are not ideal but I am not sure why or what the alternatives are.

Rear blocks almost always lead to axle wrap. These trucks already have axle wrap stock, and adding bigger and bigger blocks exaggerate that.
An alternative would be getting a new leaf spring with 6" of lift. I don't know of any off the shelf options, but companies like alcan and deaver can make you custom packs.

It's when the leaf spring goes into an 'S' shape from accelerating/ decelerating. It can lead to bad handling, wheel hop and if bad enough, a 'death wobble'
