    Interesting......2X Torque and same HP.

    Horsepower and Torque are related by Speed (rpm).

    So, the TDI with 2X torque and same HP will be at 1/2 the engine speed. This all impacts the drive train gearing.

    Sure, you could possible kludge in the TDI, then a tranny, Xfer case, F&R diffs............

    Then when this is all bodged together, then you can shell out more $$ for fuel.

    Seems like alot of effort for perceived gain, but a lighter wallet with "I have a TDI in MY Tacoma" brags.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I mean even toyota themselves make a diesel engine for the tacoma (hilux), with less HP and less torque. https://dieseltoys.com/2005-2015-tacoma-diesel even does conversions for you.

    I was looking at resell value too. Replacing with Jutta TDI sounds interesting but would kill value of truck in my opinion. I replaced with 4.0

    I'll take torque over horsepower any day for a truck. I drove a Jetta TDI Sportwagen before all the BS. A couple easy mods and a tune and it was putting down 300 ft-lbs and getting 44 mpg. But that is only a 13% increase over the 4.0. Pretty easy to go stage 2 on the TDI and grab another 50 ft-lbs. Which would net you about 33% more torque and 2x on fuel. Sounds like an interesting project if the bits were to fit relatively easily. And yeah, it would crush your resale.
