    Hey all,

    New to TacomaWorld. First post.
I have a 97 tacoma 4x ex cab w/ 277k on it, picked it up a couple weeks ago.
It doesn't ride that great, and looking at the current worn-out(?) set-up it seems clear why that's so.
I'd like to replace it with something a little better than stock/ what's on there, no lift or anything. I have no plans to go rock-crawling or "muddin'" but I do want to get where I want to go. I live in northern AZ and will take this thing camping down forest service roads or into all kinds of backcountry around here.
My main wants are: 1) performance for above tasks, 2) comfortable ride on the daily drive, 3) long term reliability, and 4) something I can install myself. Casual on-line looking suggested to me that the Bilstein 4600 series might be a good choice.
Thanks you all for your opinion.

    Stock right now.
OME lift kit IMO is best overall. bilstein also makes cheaper lift kits.

Since you mentioned no off roading, no rock crawling, and better than stock (in what way?) and no lift, you're better off refreshing your suspension with factory equivalents like Bilstein TRD 4600's.

They are soft enough to enjoy on road, but stiff enough for fire roads, etc.

A lot of people are stuck with the idea that they have to lift just to enjoy some dirt when that's simply not the case; a 4x4 Tacoma in stock form is pretty damn capable, especially for your use.

You are on the right path for shocks. Might be worth fresh coils and leafs while you are at it, due to age and mileage.

Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road could likely put together a nice package for you.

Then match that up with the right tires and you'll meet your goals.

Great to see someone who realizes a lift isn't the solution to everything. Or have to have it for looks..........

    Welcome
