Over the weekend I had lovely meeting with a rock and my windshield on the highway. Left a little gash and a crack that’s grown 4 inches in the last 2 days.

do you guys know a ball park figure of getting it replaced and any good places in the Colorado area?

Call a glass company, we're just guessing here.

Usually there is a ZERO deductible on glass unless your ins. agent let do a $100 or $250 deduct. which they shouldn't have.

As an amusing report (or possibly "idiot report"), there is TV ad for SafeLite where two people loaded 10 ft 2x4s into their minivan and pushed 2x4 directly into the windshield from inside. They were "happy" to pay SafeLite several hundred dollars to replace/recalibrate the windshield.

How about NOT putting 2x4s the full length of the minivan into the minivan and pull a trailer? Or is it just me?

I’ve had oem Toyota windshield replaced at dealership via insurance (refused to work with Safelite) and it cost me my deductible but was quoted at $825.

Then had Pilkington windshield (oem supplier) installed for $368 total, dodging insurance. Never unplugged sensor and recalibration wasn’t needed, but would have been ‘required’ if insurance was involved.

$350 here in Texas for a generic Sport windshield. OEM or Pilkington glass breaks just as easily as a clone windshield.

As an FYI, I have replaced over 8 windshields on multiple 3rd gen Sport Tacomas and I have never had a calibration or received any type of error after a windshield replacement. Rock slinging quarry trucks in the Texas hill country are brutal on windshields.

I once carried 12 ft 2x4s in my Corolla. It was mid-day so less traffic ... fortunately. The 12 footers were sticking out of the front passenger window like a jousting lance. Sorry, no pictures.

    Does no one have insurance?

I'd rather pay nothing or at least a very tiny deductible

I would encourage anyone who does not have a ZERO deductible on glass to contact their agent and get it on your policy at ZERO. I'd rather pay the couple extra bucks every six months and never use it than to have a deductible and need it. At least find out how much more it is at ZERO. It doesn't matter what your deductible is on comp or collision.

I went through insurance. I don't remember what my deductible was ($100, I believe. It falls under comprehensive), but that would just depend on your policy.

Got one today. Aftermarket with the gopro mount. $285 installed. In CA. No "calibration" required.

State farm would cover it, but they want me to pay my comprehensive deductible of $500 and file an official claim. Lame. Forget them, cash will do.

    Love that commercial!
Just replaced mine at 6k miles since new. Gravel roads. Bought the windshield coverage, no brainer around here.
