Replacing wiper motor - do I need to replace the linkage too?

    Hey guys. Wiper motor was making a bunch of noise then the blades were both moving really slow until they got stuck while covering the windshield. I became unable to force them back down and didn’t want to snap anything so I quit doing that. I had power to the harness 30amp fuse was good. Now that I’m looking at it, should I replace the linkage as well? Where it connects to the motor it moves freely and the rubber and plastic holding it together look kinda hurtin… check the pics out and if you can let me know. Thanks

    Unfortunately, the linkages aren't rebuildable without some light to medium Billybobbing. Toyota only sells the linkage as an assembly (the entire arm/both bushings) and I went through several assortments of linkage cups/studs trying to find some that would fit. Some were the right size/wrong mount, some vice versa. Tried several "Fits Toyota" hoping I would get lucky on a cross-model part number, but no dice.

    Eventually I found a cup that fit well enough but didn't actually snap in place, and through-drilled it and screwed it in place on the assembly with a stainless screw, figuring if I got a little more time out of it I'd be happy enough and just order a new assembly when it shit.

    That was two years ago, still working fine, go figure.

    Rebuild is common on Audi to pry it apart clean and lube. It’s either maybe that or replace.

    linkage design should not be different between the two. But that doesn’t replace a boot if it is worn.

    Thanks guys I bought the linkage and motor together. And then this happened

    From now on whenever i change an original part im going oem and getting all the nuts bolts and screws Toyota includes with the part because now im screwed

    Oooof. Murphy strikes again.

    If I touch an original piece of hardware on my 2009, I replace it with stainless in most cases or a Grade 8/10 for anything structure-ish - living in Rustistan makes it worth the couple of bucks here and there.

    If you want to stay "original" but don't want to pay the sometimes nuts prices for Toyota hardware, be aware that most of the hardware in the truck is JIS spec metric. If it fits it fits, but, for example, a JIS flange head 8mm bolt might have a 10mm head instead of a 12mm head as would a "regular" M8.

    im trying to figure out what size extractor to use to try and back it out.

    also, Toyota usually has part numbers for nuts/bolts/screws etc and I cannot for the life of me find what this one is. Maybe I can use what’s left on the head to determine the size but where? If anyone can assist I appreciate the help immensely.
