I think i need new shocks or springs. I dont know what. Yesterday at work my buddy pointed out, by pushing down on the tail gate only to remove his hand and my truck still moved a little. I dont know anything about suspension so if anyone has any advice i would appreciate it. My truck is a stock, '97 tacoma 2wd automatic.

First thing you need to know is for some reason it seems from '95 - on Tacomas have had the worst leaf springs I've encountered, you have 5 or 6 lug ??

its a five lug an again, it takes little effort to make the truck bounce up an down. i dont notice so much when im driving, but lately, when I have the windows down there is a definte squeaking noise. when i hit a speed bump, feels like my back end bottoms at. also, if you know off hand, does my truck have struts and shocks or just one of them? Ill take a better look tomorrow.

Well the reason I didn't even mention shocks is because the soft Toyota springs are foremost the biggest problem ride wise, You could say the shocks are ready for replacement, you should probably go with a heavier shock that will help some, like I said earlier depending how much you haul or often will determine if a spring replacement or rebuild is needed. Ideally a properly working suspension, when you push down on say the bed or rear bumper it should rebound smoothly back up & stop with no extra bounce.
