I have a 2016 TRD OR double cab longbed ,V6 auto with build date of 4-16, with the premium and tech without JBL . In 16 that included the rear backup sonar and cross traffic alert, NAV , dual climate control , heated seats ,the moonroof and color matched rear bumper ends . I also got the all weather floor mats and door sill protectors , tow package and mud flaps .
The MSRP was $38850 give or take including the delivery and prep charge.
I repriced the same truck today in an 18 and MSRP comes to $41624 without the floor mats and sill protectors.

2 years and an almost 8% increase in price shows how easy it must be to sell these trucks .
At this rate a new one in 2028 will be 61159 lol.
Glad I got mine when I did , 14K miles and lovin it !

Or it shows how much raw materials and worker wages have increased.

Eh TSS and leather, power sliding rear window. There's some increased value to those.

Just add to what I said previously, just in the last couple months the price of steel has gone up nearly 20%.

Think about those of us with models that aren't made anymore.

I don't mean generational so much, more configuration wise.

I'm sure it makes ours special.

    Or not.

So you guys think the truck is only up in price for the price of steel that just happened 2 months ago ? I do not know about the wages but have they gone up that much since 2016 ? I was thinking that they are making a lot more Tacoma's than ever and they are a hot item .

I paid almost MSRP for mine in Oct 2015 and could get one now for probably $3k below MSRP so I am an idiot :anonymous: . My dealer is offering $2500 rebates.

That's a dealer generated number isn't it? They print out their own monroney labels.

I think it’s a combination of things including increases in raw material cost, transportation of parts cost and increases in overhead costs to name a few.

I got that exact same truck( except short bed, but with mats, sill protectors and predator steps) for less than your 2016 MSRP, so something's askew.

I am thinking you are right , I was just amazed at the increase and the way Toyota changed the way packages etc, are priced. It has been a while since inflation like this has been seen ,

MSRP stands for Manufacturer’s suggested retail price. It is a number set by the manufacturer that is a starting point for dealers.

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
Supply and demand. They will sell at the rate people are willing to buy.

Have you ever seen the truck commercials (Chevy and Ford) on TV where they offer 10k off the price of a truck, that there tells you the markup on new vehicles. Does anyone really belive they would take a loss like that unless the markup was padded to a point that they could still turn a profit after the fact.

I'm sure the markup in the Tacomas is no different.

Yup. Tarrifs aren’t a tax on countries or business. They are a tax on consumers. Businesses will only absorb the extra cost for so long. We will be paying more for almost everything very shortly.
