The Viper Boa (Candoia aspera), also known as the New Guinea ground boa, is a small, terrestrial, and nocturnal snake found in New Guinea and surrounding islands. They are named for their viper-like appearance, featuring a short, thick body, keeled scales, and a slender, pointed head. Despite their look, they are non-venomous boas.

So i normally will defrost an extra mouse for the viper just in case he decides to eat. But after a day in the tank and no movement I'll give the mouse to one of my kings

They're more inclined to be lizard eaters.
My name is in Vin Russos boa book.
I'm 1 of the only 2 people to have ever captive bred B.C Nebulosa. Been in the snake world , long time and know most all the old timers.
Brian B who passed not long ago was a dear friend. Thank you for the quicky on Candoia.

Sorry of that came across in a condescending manner as the question was just perceived in more of a what the hell is a viper boa.

    NO SIR, your golden .
Hopefully this fall I'll assemble my book collection. None of the kids or grandchildren have use for them. So they'll go up for sale.
Seeing the room your putting up it may hold interest to you. I'll keep this in mind .
    Thank you.

    Story,
Early 90s, I became friends with Bob Sears.
Bob was a stunt pilot and snake fancier. Him and Linda lived in west texas. Home to many a rattlesnake round up. He had me come his direction for some protesting of the round ups. While staying with them we became good friends, which put me in some of the nicest Hog island boas of the time. I at one time had a really sweet collection of hogs.
Years later Bob developed cancer and prior to his passing he divided the Crawl cay group he had between a fellow name Russ and myself. I got the lions share. I produced a 2nd gen, sold a few and donated a few. Any Crawl cays around today , I may have hand in.

    Yet, another story.
A professor at Tyler Texas state college Dr Neil Ford. Recieved a shipment of boas from the Sonoran desert institute. lol. They were offered to the herp community at hand. Very few had any interest . So again I ended up with the lions share. Very dark brown boas of the most northern occupied. VERY capable hissers. BIG time blow hards. Big bluff with no bite they were very timid. Very short and thick individuals. Pumpkin orange bellies and solid, no holes in the big metallic head spear.
    Truly awesome locale.
Sometime later I got another locale from Marcia lincoln of Arizona , nice locale but didn't compare to the SDI animals. I'll have to take cellphone pictures of the 35mm hard photos I have.

We have a sonoran "leopard" boa here and have been learning there is a slough of mis information regarding them or everyone is keeping boa imperators very wrong.

Everywhere you read it says keep them the same as BI's my best luck for that is ambient 80-82 hot spot 92 and 70-80% humidity with spikes. Never had an RI perfect sheds everytime, happy animals. So i scooped up this sonoran did the same second day instant RI was there somthing underlying or was the humidity spike the issue I'll never know. But what i have found now is lower temps and humidity has really seemed to improve his activity and his tongue has returned to consistently splitting. Even after the main symptoms of the RI cleared we always struggled to get his tongue fork to remain split. But a drop to 50% and a 76 ambient and 88 hot spot everything has gotten muuuuch better.

Definitely keep me posted on the books I'm sure shipping would hurt to get them up north but sounds like it would be worth it

I can barely see what it is. I'd assume a snake but hard to see. And what type or kind is he or she

Just you wait to see what I put a deposite on. As babies I don't know if there's anything that can top them.

Not the one but one of it's clutch mates
