    Yes, all is true.

You have to make at least 100k/year to afford to buy a house in San Diego region. It’s just crazy how much it’s gone up.

Thankfully I’m only 10 minute drive to work, but most people will commute to Temecula/Murrieta for cheaper housing but have to deal with 3 hour ,100+mile round trip commutes :(

Most people rack on 25k a year on their vehicles no problem. San Diego has never had a solid public transportation plan, and is heavily dependent on having your own vehicle. Positive side is, you do what you want, when you want :)

I have a 2016 TRD OR Access Cab. I just scheduled the 30K maintenance for it and was given an estimate of around $100 (I changed the cabin and engine air filters myself, thanks to advice from this site). I made sure they understood that I wanted the checklist. It seems to me that this is basically an oil change, tire rotation, drive shaft and propeller shaft lubrication (along with all the other inspection stuff). Around $100 seemed pretty good to me. The vast majority of the mileage is on paved roads. Not harsh conditions. Any thoughts?

that seems pretty cheap from what I've heard about this service, I imagine they aren't doing your diffs past just inspecting the level. I think the consensus is that you'd want to do that as a precaution unless you haven't really done any heavy offroading.

Do you purchase via the toyota parts online store or use a 3rd party? not that a non-OEM air filter would make a world of difference...

It depends at the time I need them. I have got cabin filters from Amazon and I have gotten stuff online from Olathetoyotaparts. I just look at whats cheaper including shipping at the time. On our Rav4 I replaced the air filters the day of the service and wrote the date on the filter with a sharpie, that way if they came in with the "shop filter" and told me it needed to be changed, I would have caught them in a lie.

I just sold my 2010 Accord with 156k on her. Original transmission fluid and shifted like day 1.

Not sure where you are finding techs getting paid twelve dollars an hour, I would not take my car to that shop though. I left that industry over six years ago and pay was significantly higher than that.
