What does adding a supercharger do to the resale value of a tacoma? No option to add it in on kbb. It's costs the owner 5k so I would hope it adds back to the resale. I'm talking about deal installed and under warranty. Or how about with no warranty?

N-fabs, BakFlip VP, power tailgate lock, bed lights, "raptor" grill lights. Standard mall crawler stuff.
I am interested in this also, I trade every 3 years (work and tax reasons, I would rather keep it longer) and was considering the supercharger on my next Tacoma.

It adds little or nothing to the resale value. I suspect most folks remove the blower and sell it separate when they sell their car/truck. If you're concerned about resale value, why even add a blower? This is a vehicle not a house -so its a rapidly depreciating thing. Maintain, drive it, and enjoy it. Resale value is something to not concern yourself with.

The resale on these trucks is awesome with no RAPID depreciation. If you find someone looking for the added power it may add some value. I would think $1500 or so to a prospective buyer. They will down play it and say they don't need it. Most mods return little to no money but may make your truck a quicker sale at a top dollar asking price. Meaning it adds value and seperates your truck from the other hundred out there for sale.

The biggest issue with the blower in my mind is the added stress and wear and tear on the engine. The future owner probably thinks "abused" and raced and a hard life!

You can't reverse the flash of the ECU so taking the supercharger out would not really be an option unless you replaced the ECU. I'm not "concerned" about resale, I'm just curious.

This is how I feel. However, if sold under warranty it could play out a lot differently.

Almost everyone who see moderate performance mods on any vehicle (car, truck, quad, motorcycle) that was not factory equipped with them to believe they would be beat on more than a stock vehicle.

Most who mod do care about their vehicles and maintain them nicely but there is a who group or people who mod without knowledge which causes more damage.

Most buyers will just keep looking and this is why most de-mod extensively modded vehicles. There is no value added or decreased value in extensively modded vehicles.

Any power added is extensively modded.

In my opinion a factory supercharger will add value. 1500$ sounds about right.

Right on from the F-body pilot!

As cool as these things are, they are 4 and 6 cylinder, little trucks. Most people will want to avoid spending thousands to make a 6 cylinder motor cough out 250 rwhp, while theoretically decreasing the life of the drivetrain. If you have the $$$ and want to run it on your truck, great. But don't expect other folks to see it as a + when you are trying to sell your truck.

Personally, when I'm looking to buy a used car/truck/bike I look for ones that are 100% stock or as close to that as possible.

Really? So if I bought a brand new $30K Tacoma tomorrow, are you saying it wouldn't be worth $15K in 5 years?

Even if its worth $20K, its still lost a 1/3 of its value in 5 years. Anything that loses 1/3 to 1/2 of its value in 5 years is rapidly depreciating.

    Really... ?

Yeah it's probably worth 20k, maybe more, after 5 years.

And that's damn good compared to anything else out there.

I got over 21k on a trade in for a 5 year old trd sport double cab tacoma that was in two wrecks, badly needed tires, had pretty bad scratches, broken mud flaps and a nasty interior. It had low mileage but that's what the dealer gave me and they had it on the lot a couple days later and sold it. Not sure what they got but these trucks hold there value, especially for a truck that gets beat no matter what. They are designed for towing, plowing, hauling, off roading and the OEM supercharger is designed to maintain a 5 year 60k warranty so it can't be putting too much strain on it.

You have to take into account use. I just looked at a truck just like my old one in my sig. It was an '03 dbl cab TRD offroad with 50k miles. Sold for $17k out the door at the dealer. Ten year old truck that was maybe $24 k brand new. 7k depreciation in 10 years amounts to about $60 per month. So yes, a nicely taken care of truck is SLOW to depreciate. Considering the "use" aspect I would say he nearly drove for free. Not too many other vehicles do that.

When I was just looking at used Tacos a typical 4x4 dbl cab with 40-50k miles are still mid to high 20k range. I decided new was the way to go.
