For the same price the wheels and fender flares make all the difference to the world for me towards the OR.

And I am the total opposite. I had a 2001 Frontier XE with the black fender flares and front bumper and absolutely hated them. The black would turn white and fade and no matter how much protectant i put on it, it would still look like crap to me. That is why, I only considered the sport or Limited because it had the painted fender flares. All personal preference though.

Seriously, that thread history by OP is a headache. You’d think by now they’d be an expert in Tacoma values versus hanging around a forum for over a year banging out the same sort of threads again and again.

More texture easier to paint ;)

Yeah, it is all personal preference, a lot of the fading comes down to how well the plastic is made too. The black trim (rear window surround, bedrail caps) on my '02 F-150 is still a dark gray like it was when I brought it home 12 years ago. The grille faded quite a bit though, I painted it black and it looks a lot better than it ever did.

Quicksand with black grille and fender flares really pops, it is my color of choice with Cement a close second... which also pops with black trim.

I know this is the 3rd gen section, but if trends follow anything like the 2nd gen then off roads command more money used.

As for fading plastic..... Have you guys heard of a product.. "wipe new"...? I've tried it on my 2006 and it brought the plastic right back to full black colour...just like new....!!

If they have something to look at. CarMax was great to talk to, but used Tacos were few and far between. You have to be pretty open to other configurations. I wasn't.

For your questions, the answer is the cleanest, lowest mile, mostly stock example. In white or silver.

For the rest of the story........... low depreciation only matters if you are figuring a lease option or you are a frequent trader.

If you are a long term owner, say 10-20 years, it won't make a hill of beans. You'll just own an old truck. It's not like these are rare custom packaged combos. Say a BB Camaro with an RS/SS package, or a handful of Hemi Cuda convertibles.

Regardless of hype and price, at the end of the day it's just another truck. With only a v6. Or less.
