Pulling the fuse seems to work - throttle response improved and shift points raised from <1800 to 2100. WAY better driving experience.

But here's the rub: After a week of driving it goes back to this sluggish behavior! I can't figure out WTF this is happening - perhaps it's the OVTUNE I had done earlier in the year. I'm going to try a different tune and hopefully that will help.

With the 5.29s, all I really need is a slightly higher shift point and this would be a fun drive.

The solution is get Techstream. Read tonered's thread on ECU TSB Update and a free Techstream download. Buy a Tactrix cable and diy reset learned values. There's like 260'ish pages of discussion on the topic.

Unfortunately you'll need someone with the software. I just moved to a new location. More stop and go traffic. I had the dealer reset the computer learning mode. So, it like brand new student learning my driving in the new area. My vehicle had 20 k when it was reset
    Runs much better. No lagging

you can get a bidirectional scan tool. got the Xtool Anyscan A30M. was like $170. you can reset all the learned values with it. had to reset everything yesterday because my truck was running like total garbage after it retarded the timing on a tank of 87.

Page 200 of my manual disagrees with you.
"■AI-SHIFT AI-SHIFT automatically selects the suitable gear according to the driver performance and driving conditions. AI-SHIFT automatically operates when the shift lever is in the D position. (Shifting the shift lever to the S position cancels the function.)"

i reset the transmission's learned values and the s-mode shifts were incredibly harsh before it "learned". like banging into gear harsh. was a bit concerning but it's smooth now. going to do a drain and fill this week anyway just to be safe. I'm on the "severe usage" maintenance schedule, being a delivery driver.

Sorry, but that still doesn't disprove what I said. I use my Taco for work as well and can provide my own anecdotal evidence that offsets yours.

Or I can go with what the people that manufactured the truck say... I'm gonna need more than your seat of the pants data before I change my mind lol.

Bumping this thread. - maybe im in the wrong place? But hoping someone with experience and knowledge can chime in.

I went up a wheel/tire size and wonder if my truck would benefit with a transmission reset because of the extra weight and rolling resistance of LT tires. MPGs took a way bigger hit than expected

(also we switched to winter blend gas so cant decide which was the worse contributor)
