    Hey Guys,

So my truck's CEL was on and was throwing P0420, and it turned out the flange connection between the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter was split, causing there to be an exhaust leak right before the o2 sensor. I fixed the flange and and replaced the gasket yesterday and I was wondering what I need to do to reset the CEL, or when would the ECU reset itself? I havent driven much since I fixed the flange.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Disconnect the neg battery cable for about 30 seconds. All gone. Along with everything else that requires battery memory, like radio settings.

Or you can use the code reader that read the code to clear the code. Well, with most code readers. Some cheap-o's don't have that function

Any parts house will reset it for you. Them order a bluetooth o d module off of ebay for about $5, then download torque to your phone. Free code reader in your pocket.

Interestingly enough, my CEL turned itself off after I put new 02 sensors, new catalytic converter, and replaced the manifold. I drove it for a few days and it eventually was no more. I thought I was going to have to go to a dealership but I guess the truck realized the issue was resolved and therefore turned off the CEL.

    Any others with this experience?

Pulling the EFI fuse for a few minutes will have the same effect.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Just remember when you unplug the battery or EFI fuse you lose your fuel trim settings and the truck will get shit MPG for a bit while it relearns.
