I have this small persistent problem...

Whenever I pull left into a parking space one of my tires screeches just before I come to the complete stop. I didn't think much of it, and I don't get the noise if I pull in very slowly.

The last time I removed the tires I noticed a black rub spot near the upper rear part of the driver-side wheel well. I'm running Michelin LTX A/T2 tires 10.50 x 31 at 36 PSI. They now have a little over 30K miles on them. Has anyone else noticed a similar problem?

What type of screech? Does it sound like tire on fender or more like tire on asphalt? Also a picture of the fender rubbing would help

Could be an alignment issue which is causing tire scrub

Go to an empty part of a lot and keep repeating the sound until you find it. Keep wheels pointing in same direction and see if it’s a rub for sure.

I have aggressive tread block 285's and my truck is somewhere around 5k+ my tires always screech and scrub at low speeds in parking lots, no rubbing.

    More like tire on asphalt.
Nothing wrong with the alignment. Have the problem for about 2 years. Was aligned 2 months after I noticed the noise.

The ID label (little white paper with the VIN on it) that's on the rear of the driver side fender well is partially worn off and has a black skid mark on it. The one one the passenger side is okay.

This is not a big thing for me, just a source of minor irritation because in my 60 years of driving I've not heard that noise. I'll have to check it out more thoroughly.

    UPDATE:
Tires are still screeching on the asphalt after I turn into a parking space and come to a stop. Gettin' used to it.

The tires are Michelin LTXs. They have over 30,000 miles on them, were bought in January 2015, and are showing no abnormal signs of wear.

Can't believe how many things one has to get used to as one gets old :burp: .

probably normal… when you turn the steering wheel the contact patch of the front tires shifts from approximately center of the tire to the outside of the tire and the tires camber changes at the same time. There is a smaller contact patch and you more than likely just hearing the tire loose its grip momentarily. This is by design for street automobiles… under normal operating conditions, this is the reason you have to rotate tires because the outer edges of the front tires wear more than the middle. The wider the tire, the larger the problem.

    UPDATE:
In September 2022 I replaced my Michelin LTX A/T2 tires with Michelin whatever-replaces-Michelin LTX A/T2-tires.

The screech I described no longer occurs.

I expected more out of the original Michelin tires that I had.
