I made that drive a couple days before turkey day, a day after a storm had blown through. Temps were just above freezing and it was breezy (not windy by gorge standards, but pushing the car I was in). That's a treacherous drive. Glad you're okay!

I live in the Gorge and haven't needed or wanted to drive since the ice storm came in on 12-1.
It just thawed out here today but there was a LOT of carnage to be seen. Sorry about your truck and trailer OP! Thankfully shit like that can be replaced.

Out of curiosity were you chained up?

Dang, glad you were able to walk out for help. I hope you have someone monitoring you closely for head trauma for the next day or two.
I sometimes go without a seatbelt, just stupidity, I know... seeing things like this remind me to buckle up. Thank you for sharing. I hope insurance treats you well, how they handle the camper should be an interesting story.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I would have, but with my physical injury, no sue of one arm for 4-6 months, it's too impractical. I'm letting it all go away.

No worries, I was making a bad joke.

OTOH, it looks like it would be hard to find anything usable, except for maybe your jack!

I did feel the airbags deploy and they deprived me of any visibility as I lurched over the guard rail and down the 60 foot embankment. I am thankful for that. My head was pretty cut up from loose shit in my cab but my face was almost free of scratches, maybe the airbag? So, I guess I am thankful for the airbag.

Yes, the seatbelt saved my life and I ended up hanging upside down at the end. Yes, the dislocated clavicle was a seat belt injury. I am happy with how it turned out overall. It's a painful injury but could have been a whole lot worse.

Hey good news, my little wife made it out to the salvage yard while I was in the hospital and recovered the jack :) It is literally the only thing that survived the accident with no damage :)

You know it's pretty amazing, I ended up landing in a sand bank and NOT THE RIVER. I'm sure I would have drowned otherwise. I really want to go back out there and get a picture of that exact spot, but with my injury it's going to be awhile. It was night and I couldn't see but I have the feeling I was very very close to the rivers edge.
