First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I wish. I'd love to keep the truck, sigh. It may be beyond a "buff out" this time. Certainly it's had many of those over the years. This one's the final chapter. And now I have to buy a new one, will it be a 3rd gen? Oh God I just don't want to think about that, I was hoping to keep mine through the 3rd gen cycle before having to replace it. Maybe I'll buy someones lightly used 2nd gen off this site? My insurance check should be arriving soon :)

Yes, thanks. I should actually do fine insurance wise on the trailer since it was only 3 hours old from the dealer shouldn't depreciate too badly. Oddly they are not paying out on it just yet, I have to prove ownership and since it was new the title isn't here yet. Almost comical.

I know, it looks bad there and I think one more roll and I'd have been done for. They scanned my head and found no trauma. I appear to be just about as dumb as before so looks like I'll be alright??

Maybe? I might be looking for a lightly used 2nd gen. Or, I might get a Jeep, or even a diesel GMC Canyon? Still weighing my options.

That ARB bumper held up very well. You could probably just pull it off the truck and pop it on yours. Too bad the truck wasn't made of 1/8" sheet steel. Sigh.

Well thank you. I am thankful to be alive and know the Tacoma saved me for sure. It really absorbed the beating for me.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I'll get a 3rd gen. I'm not sure I could live with that? I was planning to keep mine until the 4th Gen. Now I think I'll do anything else, maybe a used 2nd gen, or a Jeep, or even a diesel GMC Canyon?

Probably a lightly used 2nd Gen. Maybe a Jeep? Maybe the new diesel GMC Canyon? Probably NOT a 3rd Gen.

I'm glad you decided not to drive through there that night. I heard a semi also wrecked and they almost shut down the road altogether after that.

The front bumper was an ARB, the rear was ProComp. Both seemed to survive intact.

Yeah, I agree. I'd have spent the night down there and maybe been washed away by the river? I used the force. That insane boost of adrenaline you get when your faced with these situations, it pushed through the pain and time was surreal and seemed to stand still. A few more minutes though and I'd have passed out for sure.

It was new so totally unloaded except for the propane tanks. Probably around 2900 GVWR. Yes, I had trailer brakes (electric) and everything was tuned and working well. I'd never been on ice with a trailer so maybe I didn't handle it well?? The trailer seemed to be yanking the whole truck around, braking seemed to just cause it to jackknife and I was unable to steer out of it.

Honestly, it's going to be some time (years) before I pull trailers again. It freaked me out pretty bad. I've had my truck on black ice before and powered out of it fine - but obviously not this time :-(

Yes it was a White Water Retro, the 177 SE. It was a sweet little trailer and I was so excited to have one. I saved my pennies for quite awhile to afford a new one.

Actually I think that I'll get almost everything I paid back on the trailer? Although they haven't put forward a dollar amount yet, I still need to prove that I owned the trailer since it was new the title still hasn't been issues yet from WA state. And I lost all my paperwork in the accident and the dealer has been slow to get me copies.

The truck they ended up giving me $24,500 which is so low. The truck has a $5k supercharger, $4k stereo, $7k suspension/winch/bumpers, and more... but that's how the cookie crumbles. All your aftermarket stuff is generally not covered.

Yeah. It was pretty pushed out. Surprised you noticed it, thanks for thinking of me while you were driving that stretch - hope it caused you to go slower? I want to get back out there and take some pics of it and down the embankment to where I ended up.

Working on it. I really want them also. I've got some physical limitations from the accident (no use of my left arm and can only pick up a coffee cup of weight with my right arm) so it's going to be awhile before I get back out there and get some. Sorry. Maybe soon if I can compel my wife to do it for me for a Christmas present????

Took the exact words out of my mouth. Glad you made it out relatively unscathed given the circumstances. Terrifying.
