The Kryptonite of many Trim Restoration products. For instance, Back in Black makes a huge mess in the first rain storm.

I don't think you'll find anyone here who doubts that 303 Aerospace Protectant makes black textured trim look better after an application - as it did in your pics. Personally, I like the product and use it on the seats / upholstery on my boat on a regular basis - for protection from the sun's UV rays.

Where I think you will find some push back is on how long the product lasts. My experience is that the next good rain storm or car wash will pretty much totally remove it. Please note that 303 is not alone in the category of "looks good for a while." Black Wow, Peanut Butter and Vaseline also fall into that category. What I think many people are really looking for is something that "looks good for a long time." But getting back to 303, I would suggest that if you start using it before the plastic has oxidized, it should prevent or slow down oxidation over the long haul better than many other products.

And getting back to the OP's question, 303 does nothing to remove wax / polish residue trapped in textured plastic - as one of your photos shows.

Yep 303 should be used from day one and often, it’s like a sun screen for plastic, it does not restore,it protects.

303 is fine for interior. There are better products to use on exterior trim. Coatings are the way to go. I have been using GTechniq C4 and although it says trim restorer I am using it on my new vehicles as well due to the fact it adheres to the plastic and protects it. I have over 18 months on my application and I can still tell where I applied it to the tailgate.

I get everyone likes 303 cause it’s cheap but I personally don’t like reapplying after every rain nor doing I like seeing it on my paint after a heavy dew.

I use 303 on the interior only, for the same reasons you listed. Also using GTechniq C4 on exterior trim. I apply it once a year and the results are great. I'll try to remember to post up some before and after photos in the spring.

I mostly agree with this. I’ve seen using a heat gun to warm up the trim work well, but I don’t know how long it lasts. None of the back to black products I have used really lasted very long. You gotta protect things from the beginning if you really want it to last long.
