Right, my larger tire size ruined my truck. :( I get 2mpg and the rear diff ate itself. Why are these trucks made out of cardboard sos

ETA Nevermind - I read back a few pages and see you already bought new tires.

You can go to 235 75r15 with no problem.
Looks much better but will throw your speedo and odometer off by about 7.5%.
I've got Hankook Dynapro AT's on mine and like them.

235s are a great size, 30/31s are also possible without a lift but would be a bit too cramped for my tastes.

Probably a little late and I’m sure you already got it fixed but I had the same issue with the clock spring on my old 08.

I’m not sure if there is a recall on it but when I got my fixed there wasn’t but I went to the dealer and they were tryin g to charge me an arm and a leg to fix. I was able to get them to fix it for free because it’s a safety issue to not have a functioning air bag.

Anyway truck looks awesome very impressed!!

Thanks for the heads up, yeah I'm gonna probably have to be hardnosed with them but luckily it's the only thing I need the dealer for.

Yeah since I'm just flipping this truck i didn't feel up to seeing how far I could push it with size. Had a 90 bronco a year ago with Hankook Dynapro ATs on there. Very good tire, got me through a lot of crap you would expect to need a mud terrain for.

When I sell this and my Acura I'm looking to get a Double cab 4x4 offroad package. I'll probably put a 4 inch lift on it and find some slightly upsized tires since it will be a 6 lug.

I'm gonna look at my options. Want to DD it (the next truck) but also have an overland setup ready that I can drop down onto the bed via a pully system when I wanna go off the beaten path.

I know folks who DD their SAS trucks, but take a good look at how much "wheeling" you want to do. I know a dude with a 2wd truck and a locker in the rear and it's still extremely capable with just that locked rear end. With a locker and good recovery gear you may be able to achieve what you're looking for.

I think a lot of people build way beyond what they actually use their truck for. BTW, stoked on this build, good work.

What kind of pad did you use with the compound? I need to do my other car.

Including purchase price of $500 we are just below $2500 spent so far. Shouldn't have to spend any more since I have everything and it's just a matter of putting in carpets and seats when they get here.

Using a Griot's garage 6inch DA with their orange cutting pad, Adams heavy correcting compound, and taking my sweet time.

50% overlap for each pass, cross hatch pattern, only moving about 1 inch per second on the highest speed setting (6).

Be very careful if you decide to polish your own paint and have no experience doing it. Speaking as one who has done a good deal of detailing in my life, I can tell you that the wrong pad, process, product, speed (and a few other things) will lead to a disaster that costs a fortune to fix. And I've had some real messes brought to me to try to fix. So unless you have some experience, I'd highly recommend seeing somebody who does.

While this is good advice I would also tell you that as long as you start off using the least abrasive method in an inconspicuous area, and using a DA and NOT a rotary you should be fine. Step up the pad and and polish combos till you're getting the results you want. Don't go for 100% correcting though, you'll remove too much clear coat. Stick with 75-80% better and trust me you will be happier than going too far.

Got a chance to bust down on it again today. Started tearing into the interior to get it ready for my fresh seats. Knew it was gonna be tough when the first panel I pulled up has 3 roaches under it.

    MVIMG_20190131_101502.jpg

Truck still had a smell. Best description is stale dead vegetation. Started getting seruser about getting the carpet out and cleaning things.

This may explain some of the grindy shifter feeling i was having .

If you can't scrub them out, could try hitting a salvage yard or u-pick-it and grabbing a new door panel.

Finsihed the carpets today. Put the rear seats back in. Still gotta work on them a little but its getting close to being ready for sale.
