Unfortunately at this time we do not have any updates on a retrofit solution.

This is correct. The mic wire should be long enough to run however you would like in a Tacoma. The reason we have the wire so long is because this microphone should work in other Toyota's that use the same microphone.

That's a good question. I know many different model Toyota's use the same microphone, but I am unsure if this fits a 3rd gen.

Edit: At this time we have no plans for a third gen microphone. However, that is not to say we will never make one.

What would be involved in creating my own retrofit solution from one of your existing mics? Could I just run your mic up to my existing console, secure it in place and drill holes in the place between the lights? Or is it more involved than that?

Ya can’t wait ! I have a NEX8200 with the Maestro RR itching for install maybe thinking 2 kicker hideaway subs down the line behind the rear seats enough for some bass but not shake the windows and make your ears itch haha (I’m not in my 20s anymore )

I don’t see why that wouldn’t work, as long as you secure the mic and make sure the holes you drill are lined up .. maybe copy the cut outs from someone who has it.. another idea would be to get the other factory overhead from online it might solve the mounting and holes all at once and be a simple swap.

Exactly, I would assume you would need to drill a hole or Dremel slots for the microphone and secure the microphone with hot glue to the center piece between the lights. However, I have never seen what the inside of the overhead console looks like on a truck that didn't come with Bluetooth so I cannot say for sure.

What do you mean? When the microphone is installed you cannot see it, just like the original Bluetooth microphone. It is a direct replacement.

Maybe he means the backside of the console before you screw it back into the headliner?

Hello everyone, we have 2 replacement microphones left and an update! Would you guys/gals be interested in an adapter that makes the factory mic work with aftermarket head units? This will save you from having to take apart your overhead console and run a wire from the overhead console to behind the head unit. It should also be universal for most Toyota's with factory bluetooth (2nd gen, 3rd gen, and MORE) However, our testing + initial support will be 2nd Gen. We have been toying with the idea and have working prototypes. Currently it requires connecting 6 wires behind the head unit.

Let me know what you prefer! Do you like the current option (Replacement drop in microphone), or a microphone adapter (Complete install done from behind head unit. No need to take apart your headliner)

Well I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m still waiting for the retrofit option.

I’d be interested in the retrofit option. But does it involve splicing or is it still something like plug n play with an OEM style connector?
