I see I’m still on the list of 4 or so, are we still waiting or did I miss the boat again?

Hey @Kyleinator - I ended up buying this off of @rpdorgan since he didn't need it. The audio shop just called me and said it didn't fit in the factory location on my 2019 Pro non-JBL. He said my factory mic is much smaller. Any idea why that might be?

So they ended up just using a pioneer mic for me. Any chance you'd buy this back off me or does anyone else want one of the drop in mics?

Interested in the inline unit. Any details as well. I have 2013 4Runner waiting to install a Kenwood once I have all the details worked out. I'm looking at the signal from the OEM microphone to the back of the radio unit. If there is something available to purchase, that makes my task easier.

From posts, I get the impression that the inline plugs in the back of the microphone in the headliner. Is there a specific reason this can not be installed behind the radio unit where the microphone wires come out?

Any chance I can get the details of your unit? Schematic? Not to compete with you. ;) I have enough to do with work and kids. :)

    Thanks

I'm so sorry everyone for being MIA. My teammates and I have been extremely busy for the past year and we haven't made much progress on these projects. However I can tell you two things; 1) We have no plans to ever create the 3d printed drop in microphones again. 2) We just submitted our designs for the inline adapter to our vendor for estimates last week. However, with that being said we are not sure what our plans are for this project and if we are going to continue this project. One potential issue is that I sold my Tacoma last week so our test vehicle is gone.

I know I'm not local to you, but there's so many of us wanting this I'd be happy to help test on a 3rd gen with an aftermarket Pioneer stereo.

Drop in mic works great for me! Hoping the inline is just as good - should be an easier process overall!

    Where you want to be
I'm in to test as well.. Been waiting for this since Dec. 2018.. Would be quiet upsetting for so many of us if this project is dropped. Heck, just last week I decided to rip my dash apart to install the pioneer mic because I couldn't stand it anymore trying to hold my phone next to my ear and driving (NOT SAFE) just so I can hear the conversation during our work meetings.. And the speaker on the phone is not all that great when it's sitting in a cubby hole.

Would there be a way to purchase the design if you are going to drop the project?

This absolutely does work, this was how I originally got my microphone to work with my aftermarket head unit. One thing to note is that it's my understanding Toyota amplified the microphone for compatibility with their noise reduction circuit in their OEM head units. So it's possible noise could be introduced into the microphone by having such a long, low voltage microphone cable running alongside misc other wires. With that being said I had no complaints about my microphone when I had it modified this way but YMMV.
