Has anyone created a custom rack that slots into the Retrax bed cover t-slot rails? I'd love to hear about / see them!

I know you can use the standard Thule and Yakima towers and rails with a Retrax cover but none of their current offerings meet my needs. I've been dreaming of getting someone to weld together a modular rack that sits about ~12" above the bed and mounts to the t-slots. The side of the cover and rack would remain a permanent fixture on the truck but the crossbars on the rack could be easily removed for hauling big loads.

Technically you could start with just the feet that mount into the track from either company and then build your own rack up from there. Would require some fabrication but sounds like you are going to be doing that anyway

Would the Yakima HD Tall T-Slot Rack work? Then you can just mount a modular platform from any mfg to top of crossbars.

Can also add the Yakima SideBar for mounting accessories and adding stability.

I looked into this solution before, seemed to be nice way to go if you have the T-slots built into the Retrax.
