They use the carcass (I believe that's the right word) of a used tire and put new tread on it. They used the carcasses of Goodyears for mine.

    From Treadwright:
"We have a 7 step process to ensure each tire meets our high standard of quality and safety:
We find “gently used” tires that have the highest grade. These used tires are inspected in 17 different areas before we accept them.
Once the tire is approved we buff the thin top layer of rubber from the tire.
Then a computerized machine wraps a continuous ribbon of new Full Grade Truck Rubber on the tire for the specific mold and tread design the tire will have.
We then computer balance each tire.
The tire is then "cured" and given a new tread design.
Once the tire has cooled we do a thorough inspection and testing of the tire to ensure it was made correctly and is safe for use.
Tires are then taped and shipped. "

Let everyone talk trash about treadwright. When I first bought mine they were 90 dollars now they're like 110. Supply and demand suck when you're not the supplier. :(

Any experience on an aggressive look but most importantly "quiet" tire for highway use. Hate road noise, makes me go nuts.

I know nothing about retreads...but I know I see them every shift at the station...all of ours rigs have retreads? If an emergency vehicle and other heavy equipment vehicles have them...why can't you?

The guard dog m/ts have a little bit of a howl, but I don't think it's that bad.

idk bout AZ but in NC emergency vehicles cant have retreads.

also iirc no retreads on steer tires

i had a set of retreads on my dually last year, one of the treads came apart on the highway, no load, going 75. and caused 3,000 in damage

Got the tires on yesterday and noticed a wobble on the tread on one of the tires. The casing is straight but the tread has a wobble and you can see it at low speeds with a mirror on the tire. I filled out the warranty form on the treadwright website late last night and this morning they are already shipping me a new tire. Thats some good service!

The ride is a little firmer but quiet. I have yet to play with pressures, but i have a feeling the shop put in too much pressure. We will see. So far so good. at 108 per tire...already exceeded my expectations.

A defective wobley tire exceeded your expectations?

    Really.

Please when your tire blows and you wipe out a family of four, please don't clog up this forum with a new "OMG I'm glad do be alive" thread, just post your issues and lawsuit questions in this thread.

Emergency vehicles use retreads? Glad to see my tax dollars hard at work.

Do you retread lovers have group meetings on Sunday and sit around and comfort each other on your decisions to be retread lovers for life and the hardships you face from those who buy real tires?

Ok Now I'm being a Dick....

    LOL like I care.

    Yes, you are.

Do you tire company employees have group meetings on Sunday and sit around and strategize how to cast aspersions on products with which you have no experience?

If you dislike the tires so much why not leave the thread? Or send the guy some money for new tires.
