my buddy just had a set of TWs thrown on his T4R and he loves them. says the ride quality is good and road noise is minimal. he had them wrapped in a BF AT casing so they look exactly the same. time will tell if they hold up as well but he loves them so far. if they do turn out good ill probably buy my next tires from TW

I am on the verge of ordering from them...285/75/16's and I cannot decide between the Guard Dog or the Warden...

The Guard Dogs look great, but I commute over 60miles/day... the winter months in the middle of the nite, I really need something that does great in the snow.

    Any opinions?

Do you have to send back the defective tire? Or do you get to keep it ?

    wow...to reaffirm...yes, you are a dick.

I have a few things to say here:

If you dont have personal experience w/ the product up for discussion, don't bash them.

Treadwright tires are DOT approved for a reason.

ANY tire will fail if not properly cared for; retread or "new."

    Loved my Treadwrights offroad.

And I first, I didnt mind them on-road. But then I rotated the tires and realized that the 2 rear tires werent properly balanced... Steering wheel wbbled bad...

After lifting the truck and not getting an alignment for a month or so, I needed new tires. I rotated the wobblers back to the back when I lifted the truck. Of the 2 new ones I bought, one took several ounces to balance and the other couldnt be balanced at all.

So maybe just my luck, but 3 out of 6 tires were ridiculously warped...

All that said, if I had a dedicated trail rig, I'd buy em in a heartbeat

Just got my 265/75/16 Treadwright Warden A/T's and have about 150 miles on them so far and love them. They balanced great. Had some snow this past weekend and they handled great, so much better than my Destination A/T's did. Will report back once I get more miles on them, but so far so good.

We put Guard Dogs on my buddies suburban last winter when we swapped in one ton axles. Still havent gotten them balanced and he drives it to wheel an hour or two each way. It runs down the highway with no issues and is much heavier than our trucks and has a welded rear axle. The only real gripe has been that in mud we have to air down to 25 to get the tires to clear.

These photos further solidify my decision on getting the Wardens next time around.

I work with the retread industry. Depending on the retread process, the tires that come out are as reliable as brand new ones and follow some of the same processes that new tires are created, including high pressure high temperature cooking of the materials.
    See: http://www.bandag.com/download/Bandag_Retread_System.pdf
    and: http://www.retread.org/?page=AboutRetreading
    and: http://www.bestonetire.com/page/show/202686-retreading-myths

Please do your research before blasting things. The small truck market for retreads is new due to the costs of retreading, which factor in with larger tires due to most of the cost of a tire being the casing, not the tread itself. Now that prices are going lower, those of us with regular commuter vehicles can now take advantage of this.

Ok,years ago I was in a church van that was running retreads on it. Had probably 12 kids in it, and was doing 70mph down the highway and had a separation on the passenger rear tire. I have no idea on brand, mileage, etc

... but there ya go, first hand experience with a failure
