All my 2016 needs is a seat I can lower for better headroom. Going to visit the first 2020 available to see if it lowers passed the stock setting in my 16. Anyone else going to look into this? I realize the seat parts will probably be expensive. Still looking for a good solution.

I'm 6'4" and my eyes are basically at the top of the windshield. Can't wait to get my hands on some new seats if they will adjust lower!

I hope I am wrong, but I can't see the seats going any lower, especially with adding the motors in. I think it will start at the same height and will give higher settings, but that's just my thought.

If they change the shape of the seat bottom then it will be lower to start with

That would make sense. I am interested in this too, so I will be on the lookout.

At around the 4:00 mark Seatbelt Mike says more adjustability.

He also says at the 2:33 mark that their customers are not asking for anymore power.

Anyone have any idea on when the power seats will be available for purchase? I am trying to avoid trading in my 2019 for a 2020 just for a power seat.

The power seat functionality will be that of the current 4runner and thus the seats in the 2020 Tacoma will be able to be lowered beyond the current fixed height. This really is a welcome relief for anyone over 6'. On the one hand I get why Toyota doesn't need to do a lot of market leading stuff to the Tacoma but on the other hand for a Tacoma up to the 2019 model year not to have even basic power seats is kind of a joke. The simple answer why is because 'they don't have to' - people still come in droves to buy a $35k midsize truck (me included).

Any updates on this? Has anyone figured out if they can be easily retrofitted into a 16? Looking to do the same for the new Android/Apple head unit as well.

Beat Sonic makes a plug and play kit for the Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I haven’t purchased it, but I plan to. I asked at the dealership when I bought my ‘19 if the ‘20 head unit could be retrofitted, and the sales guy said he had asked the technicians at the dealership the same thing bc he also had an older gen 3. The technician said “probably not” because of the other settings, etc. controlled by the head unit. https://www.beatsonicusa.com/toyotacarplayandroidauto.html

I looked at doing a power seat swap on another SUV I had and found the whole wiring harness had to be swapped out at the firewall or have an electrician wire it up using power from another source. I did not want to do either, so I just kept the manual seats. Because of that, I have been waiting for the Tacoma to offer the power seat. Why they didn't do the passenger seat on upper trim levels as well is beyond me.

I did the exact same thing. My head rubs the roof in my '18 so I went to sit in a '20. Unfortunately, the seat comes adjusted as low as it will go, which still had my head on the roof. Huge bummer.
