This past weekend I installed a set of retrofit headlights that I ordered online. I'm under the impression that everything was wired correctly, it was mostly plug and play and they worked fine for a couple days. However, last night while I was setting the alignment, the driver side headlight went out (DRL and turn signal still work fine). Upon inspection I noticed that a fuse was blown, but when I replaced it the new fuse blew immediately. So now I/m under the impression that somewhere along the line there is a short, and now theres too much current running to the ballast. The company that did the retrofit is sending me a new cable that connects the ballast to the main wiring harness since the original one that overheated seems to be shot. But I think it may be possible that the short is happening somewhere along the original oem wiring harness. Has anyone else had this issue?

Some more context: Toyota's wiring harness has the 3 prong connector that used to plug directly into the headlight, with the new setup that connector is hooked up to the ballast which then runs into the new HID. This is the area that seems to be the issue. Ballast is the Morimoto XB55. Truck is a 2nd gen (2011).

You should consider a relay harness
