I'm looking to see if anyone has a list of parts for a retrofit rebuild for a 2nd gen (2010). Any info would help out. Im looking to do H1 projectors with RGB halos and demon eyes. Also if theres a certain brand of headlamps that are easier to work with. Thank you for all that offer helpful information.

Just did mine not too long ago, used Depo sport housings with morimoto H1 kit, butyl sealant, and diode dynamics RGBW demon eyes. Followed a couple videos by Lightwerkz on the sealant aspect of the build. The Depo housings get soft quick so be careful on that.

Use CAPA certified headlights for best fit and quality.

Just curious why you would use an H1 projector and not a d2s when you're going through all the trouble of retrofitting? You can get those new morimoto d2s 5.0s for pretty cheap.

If your on a budget the MH1 7.0 is cheaper and so are the bulbs but still comparable performance although the hot spot in the new D2s 5.0's is intense and has a nice step slope. The MH1 7.0 is also a little bit smaller with a smaller lens - 2.5" vs 3". I agree for a second gen headlight a larger 3" projector will fill the huge headlight bucket better than a 2.5".

Yeah I guess the budget thing, but were talking about less than $100 to be able to use a legit bulb. And that's right on the size, those mh1's are great if you need a small projector, but hes got plenty of room for a 3" or heck even the G5-exl!

I think they need to build a dual bulb projector for that G5-EXL. It doesn't really outshine the g5-EX/R. If I had a 2nd Gen I wouldn't bother with anything less than a 3" projector.

If you ate looking for maximum intensity or a lux queen, the exl wins out, but you're right it's not the best because you sacrifice the width. I personally dont like a step anyways, I def prefer a slope. I was just saying a 2nd gen has no concern for size of a projector in that huge housing. For budget, I think the d2s 5.0 with cbi bulbs and hylux ballasts cannot be beat!

Thanks everyone for the help in my upcoming endeavor, hopefully I don't regret the decision to try and do this myself.

Just make sure to test fit and aim the projector before you reseal the lens on.
