Just purchased all the parts for retrofitting headlights, wasn't expecting that big of an investment. Any advice for what to expect during my build? Any help appreciated

A few mods here and there and counting....
With the D2S projectors, you will most likely need to shave the back side of the bowl flat so the locking nut can lock the projector down. I had to do this w my D2S 3.0 projectors. I've done several retrofits, take your time. If you're gonna paint which i assumed you will, let it dry for a few days. Get some TRS gray retro rubber butyl to reseal the headlamps. Any more questions, ill be more than happy to answer. Good luck.

Appreciate the help! My only other question is with wiring a switchback halo, my understanding is that most people splice into the rear turn signals for those, where exactly is that said wire or wires located?

The turn signal harness is on the inner side of the headlamps. You can tap there.
