    Hello all.

I was into off-roading with a ‘98 Land Rover Discovery from 2000-2012. The “Disco” had a 2” OME lift, rock sliders, various skid plates, quick disconnects for the sway bars, and 32” MTR’s. So a moderate rig, but definitely capable and a lot of fun. It was also my wife’s daily driver, and i just swapped the stock wheels/tires when on the street.

Was thinking about getting back into it with a late 80’s Defender 109, but then I had an “intervention!” A wise friend said to me, “LR’s are cool, but what you really need is a 1st gen Tacoma.”

So here I am, looking forward to making some new friends and finding a truck (built up or stock). Thinking about 34/35-ish tires, OME lift, lockers, skid plates, diff guards, rock sliders, bumpers, winch, gears (4.1), hardened axles (?), etc.

    Cheers

If its offroading not utility, also consider the 3rd gen 4runners, similar platform with coils in the rear. Also 4runners tend to be much cheaper than the tacomas.

Hey thanks for the welcome notes. I definitely want a Tacoma. Want the pickup part. 2 home projects coming up: repurpose a treehouse into a shed, and expand the back deck.

My buddy says DBC has better weight distribution, but I like the look of the xcab. Scanning the FS posts...

Thanks Big Daddy. Nice shop you got there. Cool smoker.
And I love the "fire" coming out of the TOYOTA symbol on the front grill!
Wheeling, bbq, and tequila is a good combo. Too bad I'm up here in Connecticut, or I'd trade tequila for Taco buildup help and advice.
