Hi guys. I have this problem: while driving (forward), the reverse camera turns on by itself. This problem often happens when I'm using Android Auto. Sometimes everything goes back to normal, and sometimes there's no way to get rid of the rear view. Any idea what could be causing this problem? Besides being a distraction while driving, also lose the Maps. Tacoma TRD Pro 2018

I’d probably check all the connections in the back of the unit, did you use electrical tape to keep the RCA connectors in place? Were your wires crimped or soldiered etc? What HU are you using?

Thank you for responding. I really haven't touched anything on the camera system; it uses the original Entune 2.0 (Panasonic), the original rear camera, and I haven't modified anything. I don't know if the previous owner modified anything.

the OEM Entune 2.0 didn't come with Carplay/AA capabilities, so the P.O. must've done something to it, can you post a pic of the system?

Either way, I suspect you have some sort of funky wiring going on in the back, and I'm guessing something shook loose. The HU is super easy to remove to check, pull off the surround face plate and it's 4 10mm bolts holding the HU in place. You can check youtube if you're confused. I'd be curious what dongle the PO used if it truly is the OEM HU.

Thank you. I released the HQ and I don't see anything funky, maybe the problem is behind the truck, here I attached a photo of the HQ.

Nope, it's gonna be in the head unit, wiring, or as mentioned, the previously installed dongle.
The fault is almost certainly due to the previous owners mods, so that's where you're gonna need to look.

Interesting, it is OEM, so he’s definitely got a dongle in the back of the HU somewhere. You’ll have to remove the HU as stated in my prior and check out the wiring, something probably jangled loose.

it’s highly unlikely there’s anything wrong with the camera/anything else on the truck so I wouldn’t sweat it too much

Well, I'll have to disassemble the HQ and inspect it again more carefully, or find a technician to examine it. From what I understood, that HQ doesn't have OEM AndroidAuto, but rather an add-on to make it work?
The problem is more difficult when the camera activates by itself at certain times. For example, today when I went to the supermarket, I was very happy because everything was working fine. But on the way back home, the camera suddenly activated by itself again :(
