I just installed them tonight but I let it sit in reverse for a good 2 minutes and they were fine. I don't ever see myself having these lights on for than 30 seconds.

I'll report back any issues I run into.

Have these 886 bulbs blown fuses for anyone else?

Wouldn't it be easier to modify the 885 bulb (straight socket) vs the 886 bulb?
    Both are 50watt bulbs

I am wondering if 50 or 55 watt is the max one can use. There are higher wattage bulbs, i.e. 75 watt that are 12v bi-pin that could be used instead. Think this would fry the circuit???

I was scoping out my fuses today and found that the "TAIL" fuse is 10 Amps. I'm assuming this is for both reverse lights, so...

    50 watts / 12 volts = 4.2 Amps x 2 bulbs = 8.4 amps = OK
    75 watts / 12 volts = 6.25 Amps x 2 bulbs = 12.5 amps = Definitely fry your fuse

Just try not to use your turn signals while in reverse, and I think the 50/55 watt 886s will work great!

Thanks for that sachou. I can never remember that formula to figure that. Guess I should write it down and NOT forget where the note is.....

I ordered a set of 885's as Sideways suggested off of Ebay for $6 shipped. Gonna give them a shot and no big loss if they don't work.

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s

What bulb size are you running? How is the output/ distribution?

I thought about HID reverse lights but by the time the bulb warms up I'll already be done backing up. Also isn't the on/off constantly bad for HID's?

    Thanks for the correction.

I however have a first gen so it might be different...but I only brought the info up because I had been messing around with my fuse box in the engine that day and just added a new Blue Sea fuse block to power my dedicated reverse lights (rear bumper driving lights) :D

so...don't take me too seriously, as i'd never have the need to do the mod myself.

Ok so since I have installed these 886 bulbs my overhead compass/temp gauge works intermittently. I haven't looked too much into yet but am guessing the new bulbs have something do with it.

That's random. Anyone else had this issue?
