I think it looks awesome but, most importantly, what do YOU think? That's what matters. If you like it, go for it.

Might want to look at Crawlorado.org(I think, possibly .com)...they make, among other things, 3M wraps for 2nd Gen Taco hoods. A buddy of mine had one of them on his 4runner...very good things to say about it(minus it being a pita to get on there perfectly straight). Seems like it might be a happy medium between plastidip(which, as I understand, comes off pretty easily), and actually painting it(obviously permanent). Dunno, just something for you to check out. But I voted go for it.

Didn't think I'd like it, but I do. I'd leave the roof white, not just because I'd like the look better, but I'm willing to bet you'd find your cabin get quite a bit warmer changing the roof from whit to black. I say this as someone who has had both light and dark cars.

The edges ARE pretty rough...just doesn't show up well in the pic. You're right the derp doesn't break free from the tape...like paint does. I guess you gotta get the tape up quick...before it dries. But that doesn't work with multiple coats.

Actually, I know ALL about the Plasti-derp mega-thread here. But the idea to try a tempo-mod didn't hit me until I watched a guy pull a "sheet" of the derp of his hood after he was dissatisfied with the way it came out. That shit is tough to get a good even coat on.

The whole purpose of the test is to REDUCE GAWDAWFUL GLARE...so it will be a flat. If you've never driven a SUPER WHITE with a hood scoop you don't know retina burn. It's like placing a magnifying glass between your eye and the sun.:cool::cool:

Exactly...my mind was made up before I posted the pole...just did it for curiosity sake.

Thanks for the wrap source. That is the route I want to take.

I'm not a fan of the black roof myself. In fact, I like the truck BETTER w/o the black on the hood too. But I don't dislike it so much that I don't want to go ahead with this. I think the glare reduction will be worth the small step back in aesthetics. In short...it it weren't for the glare, I wouldn't even consider this mod.
