pinch the plastic cover with your fingers and it will pop free of the mirror base. The mirror base has a plastic clip that grabs the flat side of the metal window tab. flex that clip and the base will slide off of the metal window tab.

You sir ^^^ are correct and want to say thanks for getting back to me. I took a few pics but just realized they are terrible so hopefully people here can read what you wrote and use it to figure out my pics! I will say that in terms of the person that cracked their windshield....I don't think it was because of this bracket alone but rather user/installer error. The precision of this piece should be compared to a fine switch watch! Probably off by .00000000000001 of an inch and is unbelievable! What I can say is the bolt and little allen key that Jerry provides would probably snap before it could cause that kind of damage because they are so small (which also contributes to the nice aesthetics!). BUT....once the mirror is mounted, you may notice this one thing about the mirror that you never knew before and that is that there are actually 2 points of adjustment on these!! Problem is that the newly discovered one is SOOO tight that when you apply pressure to it incorrectly say using a downward force, you will definitely snap that glass. But again, has nothing to do with the bracket because you should not be applying that kind of pressure at that angle regardless of what it is mounted to. You need to actually grip the entire part with your fingers and apply pressure against itself in order to adjust it properly.

You guys are killing me...I didn't get in and now I am just reading these posts with nothing but jealousy. The mirror now annoys me more than it did before. :)

I just finished installing ImMrYo's bracket and all i can say is wow! I'm impressed. The fit and finish of this is incredible, all the way down to the packaging and ease of installation. (supplied instructions and tool) Only took me maybe 5 mins do this and best of all, my blindspot is gone. :D IMO, toyota should have made the mirror like this from the get go. Thanks ImMrYo for making a great product like this!

The 2005 has a plain rearview mirror that has a plastic clip holding it on behind the cover. Just pull down on the cover to get access to the clip. Behind the clip you will notice the metal bracket glued to the window has a notch in it.
On the back of the mirror there is some plastic edges that fit into that groove.
I trimmed them up some with a knife. Something sharper like a box cutter would work better, but a knife did the job for me.
After that is done, slide the mirror onto the bracket. I highly recommend you do this with the bracket off the window as it takes some force to get it to latch. You will have to play with it some to make sure the metal clip is in place on both sides then just slide it into place until the plastic clip is latched. Then you can slide the cover back over the clips. Once that is done slide the bracket into place on the windshield and carefully tighten the screw, but don't over tighten it.

Okay, so after the give and take ... I installed it, I took it off ... re-pulled the trigger tonight ... just tweaked the set screw just a tad ... no movement, backed it off a little bit more ... still no movement ... oh ya, I removed the top piece (the thicker of the two) of tape as well ... the check is in the mail.

And as everyone has commented ... as a retired Naval engineer this is a fine piece of machining & fit ... the tolerances are incredible ... kuddos to the maker.

Can someone post a pic of this angle that has an LCD monitor mirror and the new bracket installed?

Wondering how to hide the wiring and also have to figure out how to remount the my LCD toggle switch.

Either way, being 6'6" I would like to buy a bracket if they are available again.

    Thanks
