Dealerships and salespeople are never a fun thing to deal with in my book.

I have nothing but great things to say about my local dealership, however, I've only used them for service, not purchase.

The dealership that I purchased my new 16 from, 9 NINE! weeks later, I am still doing battle with. Do we have a thread for listing such offending places? Is it even allowed here? This has been such an incredibly horrible experience that I truly want to warn others of this place...

Best thing to do is give it bad reviews anywhere and everywhere. I usually base everything I buy off reviews.

Details? Why was your experience so poor? Just the wait time? or did they do something else?

There was no wait time. I have my truck. I've had it for nine weeks. I'm taking the suggestion above and doing reviews. I'll message you a link shortly

What are you "doing battle" with them about? You have your truck and didn't have to wait, which is extremely rare, unless you wanted a 2wd trd anything. A little context will go a long way

I was charged (paid for) dealer added accessories (not by my choice, they just put them on). In reality, they only installed one of them. It has taken nine weeks to get my $600 refund... And I actually still don't have it. It's been so bad, Toyota Corporate just called me...

    Well ok then!

    AutoNation Toyota-Las Vegas

This is a copy/paste of the Google review I did.

Never never again will I do business here.

Purchased a new vehicle, February 24. Paid in full. No loan, no nothing.
I purchased my vehicle here after an extended search of hundreds of dealers for a specific model and options. This was the only one. I drove 7 hours to Las Vegas for this vehicle. Before leaving with my new vehicle, Sales Manager Dave Little gave me his business card and included his personal cell phone number and told me to text him if I have any questions.

Three days after purchase, I discovered that I was charged for three after-market/dealer installed accessories. Only one of these was actually installed. I immediately called my salesperson, John Bekker, and notified him of this. He said he'll have to figure out what happened and get back to me. Two days later, Mr. Bekker calls and says he's not really sure what happened but he'll work on getting a refund check to me. ($598 worth of nonexistent accessories.)

Since February 24, I have had to call Mr. Bekker, Sales Manager Dave Little, and AutoNation twice a week for the last NINE weeks trying to get my refund. Every time I have called, I have had to leave voice mail messages or I got excuses for someone else not doing their job... I have even left messages for Rob Fernandez (I was told he is a manager here, I have no other info on him).

I actually thought this was going to be resolved this week after a phone conversation with Mr. Little on Tuesday, April 26. Mr. Little informed me that he was having a check cut that day and would send it out overnight. During that conversation, I had requested Mr. Little send me the tracking number. By about 7:30pm that evening, I had not heard from Mr. Little and I had no tracking number. I texted him asking for that number. Mr. Little responded that he left work to pick up his granddaughter and did not get the check sent out.

On Wednesday, April 25, Mr. Nick DeLeece calls me. He states he is the General Manager. Initially Mr. DeLeece apologized and stated he would mail out a check today and that I should have it in a few days. I advised Mr. DeLeece that regular USPS was unacceptable due to how long this had already been drug out. I advised him he needed to send the check to me via overnight mail and I want the tracking number by this evening. Mr. DeLeece hesitated and sounded like he either had me on speaker phone or was talking to someone else in the room. I am still unsure of his exact response to my demand of overnight mail. I then reiterated that I want the check sent out today, over night, and that I want the tracking number sent to me by either email, text, or phone call. Mr. DeLeece never clearly stated that he would do this.

Lastly, as part of my written sales contract, I was to receive a bottle of color-matched touch-up paint for my new vehicle. As of today, April 25, I have not received it...

UPDATE: Mr. DeLeece has called with a tracking number. However, he did not ship it out overnight as requested. (During this conversation, Mr. DeLeece admitted that none of his staff had advised him of this situation that has been going on for nine weeks.)

I'll update when the check is received.

Damn it. Now that I reread this, there's more...

    Vehicle/Bill of Sale documents...

I left the dealership with a Bill of Sale and a couple other miscellany papers. The Finance guy handled the paperwork that was to be sent to my local California DMV office. I even provided the mailing address.

In CA, you have 20 days to register a vehicle.

I kept checking with the local DMV, but they had not received the documents and I was nearing the 20 day limit. I made repeated (and unanswered) calls to AutoNation as stated above. Finally, on April 18, I was told by Mr. Bekker that 'someone' sent my paperwork to a company near Los Angeles that does registrations for vehicles coming in from other states. He provided me their phone number... I told him I dont need some company to do this work for me (for a fee, I might add) and I can handle it myself.

I called this company on the 18th and spoke to Mary. She stated she's been calling AutoNation repeatedly trying to get them to contact me. (The only contact info in this paperwork was my address.) They were not replying to her either... Mary was very pleasant and extremely helpful. She mailed the paperwork to the DMV office and it arrived two days later. Registration and title issue resolved as of April 26. Eight weeks and six days after I bought my truck...

Sorry you are having such a bad experience with a dealer, but hopefully at least your truck is ok and you don't have problems with it like a lot of us others.

As for the 20 day california registration, thats odd. I purchased mine out of state and got a temporary registration from that state. They sent everything to the DMV and then I got a letter from the DMV about 3 weeks later saying that I have close to a month to come in and finish the registration (no fees paid yet).

Did you get out of doing the whole smog check and weightmaster certificate thing somehow as well??

No truck problems whatsoever. I'll be sure to have all the fluids and grease things checked real soon.

I did not have to get weight cert. They accepted the Toyota certificate of origin weight.
But I did have to get smogged. Luckily there's only one guy in the entire county, and he thinks I'm a rock star and I pay him cash and he charges me much less than his going rate.

Thankfully the DMV office here is small and not the typical asshat employees of big offices. They're actually pleasant to deal with.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
File a small claims lawsuit for your $598 + filing fees + court costs + costs for you to fix the registration mess. File it in YOUR county and you will need to pay a few hundred bucks to file it plus $50 for a sheriff to deliver the subpoena to the dealer owner. They'll settle out of court (they'd need to come to your county to go to court).

You'll have your money and issues fixed in no time, plus they will need to pay you for the filing fees etc.

And before the anti lawsuit comments start - budette is out her $$$ for 9+ weeks with the usual run around. I did this to a Honda dealer after they damaged my S2000 and gave me the run around. I ended up with a ~$2600 check.

I appreciate the support @rtzx9r. Filing a claim was my next step. Supposedly 'the check is in the mail.' Supposed to be here Friday...

I have talked to both Toyota Corp and, surprisingly, I got a call from AutoNation Corporate in Ft. Lauderdale this morning too. The rep was overly apologetic. And actually sounded sincere about it. She's been in touch with the GM too.
It's not a huge consolation but she says there's a gift/gas card on its way to me too. At CA gas prices, I don't suspect it will go far. But it's something...

Sorry to hear about your dealership issues. I went to several other dealers (non-toyota) and looked at several other vehicles, including Chevy Colorado and Ford F-150. I had a F-150 in the 90's that ran really well until the transmission died at 150,000 miles. I hated dealing with the sales people and the dealer mark-ups that was always included with both the Chevy and Ford dealerships. My experience at our Toyota dealership was totally opposite to the others, more laid back and they started at MSRP and negotiated down from that, I paid about 300 above invoice. A friend of mine paid almost 8,000 over MSRP for a Colorado, 2wd, gas engine, no tonneau cover or dealer add one, his experience is fairly typical for those not going into the buying process prepared. I would never pay over MSRP for any vehicle. I am fortunate as I have not had any bad experiences with either my truck or the dealership.

    Somewhat of an update...

Got the refund check last week. They did not sent it overnight as I had requested.

AutoNation was kind enough to follow through with their offer of sending me a gas gift card. A whopping $25.
Let's see... $25. Specifically Shell gas. Closest Shell is 20+ miles away. Their current price for the cheap stuff is $2.86. That will get me 8.74 gallons. At roughly 18 mpg, I can go about 150 miles. Don't forget to subtract the 20 miles I'll use up just to get home...

And I'm STILL waiting on the bottle of touch up paint I negotiated in writing during my sale...

UPDATE: FINALLY got my full refund. Never got my paint...

    THEN! (Wait for it!)
Just yesterday, I get a for letter from AutoNation Toyota Las Vegas. It's a fuckin W9 form saying they don't have one on file for me for the REFERRAL payments I've received totaling over $600 (which is required by the fucking IRS!)

This POS dealerships accounting department apparently can't even categorize their REFUND (for goods charged but never received) payments correctly.

In my last conversation with AN corporate, I told the gal that I refuse to have any conversations with the dealership, and I've already made contact with her this morning.

    Unfuckingreal.

The only way to hit them where it counts is do online reviews. If their website allows reviews, do one there as well as, Yelp, dealerrater.com, google, etc. I had an issue with a repair charge in a GM vehicle. The dealer refused to cover the repair, and so did the GM customer service rep. I politely informed the Service Manager I would be doing multiple online reviews, and my service bill magically disappeared.
