you guys are talking about the updated TSB having 4 springs. I just bought a 2011 prerunner with the TRD offroad package and it only has 3 springs in it. what's up?

They don't come from the factory with 4, even in 2011. If you are having bottoming out issues, you need to request the tsb to get the 4-leaf pack.

Anyone know why regular cab models aren't included in the TSB? Mine hits the bump stops a bit with only ~500 in the bed.

Are the 3-leaf springs improved in the '11's vs. the '07?

I probably won't have bottoming out issues, since the only load i put in the bed is the occasional Home Depot run on the weekends. But i was under the impression, that if there were an issue with the truck toyota would start manufacturing the new ones with the updated springs. From what i understand anything after the serial number cutoff date would have the updated springs, mods, whatever TSB or recall there is. and looking in here TW, there is a lot of TSB. BTW good looking truck you have. The black wheels really look good on your white Taco.

I had my 07 4x4 suspension changed in 07. They replaced shocks and leaf-packs. The ride and handling was 100% improved IMHO. Better load rating also.
I think they default to the lesser suspension in an effort to make it a cushy ride for most people like that way. Not me. It rides and handles like a truck. No roll in the curves and a solid feel. It lifted the rear-end about an inch to. I would do it again if I had it to do over again. I am surprised they are still doing the 3-leaf spring pack in 2011.

Had the tsb done on the 2010 I had and the 2011 I have now. Made the ride more comfortable as the ass end is a little stiffer. My wife noticed the difference more than I did. She said it feels more stable. The only problem I have is that I need to replace the front stock Bilsteins with at least 5100s as the front end tends to bottom out. The back end tended to bottom out when driving some of the trails before the tsb, but doesn't now.

Dido! I, too, just got my TRD Sport 2wd back last night. No, there is nothing done to the front suspension other than alignment. If you don't have the TRD models, then the dealer will upgrade all shocks to the Bilstein. I agree that the ride did stiffen up a bit, but it is not at all uncomfortable. The "rear" does sit a bit higher now, but I'm going to level the front with the Bilstein 5100 adjustables to the front only. they have three settings that will allow as much as a 2.5 inch lift in the front. The guys I talked to at Down South Motorsports in San Diego suggested I not buy the 4-pack of Bilstein 5100 series, but rather only the fronts. They stated that guys who have already done this have good outcomes with leveling their trucks. The ride is suppose to be better and tighter. I know someone out here posted a poor review for the Bilstein 5100's but there are actually 2 different models of the 5100 series. The Bilstein 5100 HD (heavy duty) or the the 5100 front adjustables. So, depending on how "stiff" you want to be:) - it's your call!

I also had the front brakes replaced with the TRD HD Performance pads. Paid the extra $90.00 plus tax. The dealer actually performed the labor and rear brake replacement free due to premature warpping of the front rotors and premature wearing of both front/rear brakes. I do tow a 6,200 lbs travel trailer, but always set my brake to engage on the trailer first so hopefully I won't have this premature wear problem again. In the meantime I will upgrade my front Bilsteins to the 5100 adjustables then hit the high road with my trailer and let you guys know how the new 4-leaf leafsprings plus the upgraded front Bilstein 5100 adjustable let the truck perform.

By the way, anyone out there know the actual TSB number on this job? My brother has a 2008 TRD Sport but I don't know if the TSB is the same and I don't have it on my paperwork anyway.

    Thanks!
