There's lots of reviews for a 2nd gen pop and lock, but I never found one for what looks to be newer; one with the BOLT technology.

The mount and install is standard for any pop & lock. If you have the back up camera, there's the pop out for it as well, nothing new here.

What's new is the lock cylinder. It will code match to your ignition key. Yep, no extra key needed.

After you get the whole assembly installed, you close the tailgate. Remove the sticker blocking the key hole. Insert your ignition key fully. Rotating it clockwise, you turn it about 200 degrees, so on the clock from noon to 1900. You'll feel it click and pop as you do. Once it stops rotating, turn the key back to 1800, and that's its new 'stopped' position.

From then on, the cylinder is coded to your ignition key. Insert, slight turn to the left or right to lock/unlock.

Whole install took me twenty minutes, with having to take off the deck plate to reach the inside of the handle.

If I read the included paperwork correctly, they have a retrofit lock cylinder for older models, but I'm not positive about that.

This is a really neat bit of tech, the engineers that came up with this pulled off a good one.

I had it on my truck, I liked it until it failed about a year later. Now I'm looking for other options.

I had one for 2 years until the handle broke in 20 degree weather.

Just installed this product. Like the look. Reliable yet to be tested. I will def he gentle with the locking mechanism as it feels cheap. Functioning great now. I’ll update in some months. Cold weather testing is most important. We’ll see if plastic becomes brittle.

I purchased one from my local dealer recently, no issues so far. Fingers crossed, only time will tell how it will hold up.

On an updated note. I have experienced some fading with this product. I’ve seen forums where indivuals have removed the handle and applied black UV protectant paint. May do that in another year or so. It feels somewhat bridle so I’m very careful with mine. I try not to give it a giant yank.
