I'm planning on taking it to Rust Check around Christmas for cleaning, rust mitigation, and undercoating.

Why Christmas? Because Virginia doesn't have oil-based undercoating services, but Indiana (where my folks live, and likely where I'll spend the holiday) does.

Took mine in a couple months ago. Got turned away. I thought toyota stood behind their trucks? They stated there are other recalls that are a safety issue. The frame rusting out from under it isn't? Don't think I'll be sticking with that company any more. I'm just disappointed that there is so much hype and then they fail to follow through.

It’s probably cause you are out of the 12yr window that was part of the settlement suit.

Finished one today, a 2005 that had been waiting for parts for ages.

It's not a recall. This thread should be re-named. It's a class action, thats why there is no bending with dates.

Just curious, how'd that work? Waited on parts for 3 years past the 12yr window? :notsure:

Or was this one not done under the class action settlement?

I can tell you that they will do it if the vehicle history shows that you have been in "high risk" areas. I'm Active Duty Navy, my Taco was purchased in Mississippi in October 2005 right after Katrina. After that because of military orders the vehicle has been in VA, IL, NJ, RI, and WA. Toyota approved the full frame replacement and it was done while stationed in Mayport, FL.

    Cheers.

Found this site with the actual class action documents: www.toyotaframesettlement.com

Maybe it will help some of you guys. I just bought my 2007 so I'm SOL since I wasn't the owner when the suit was settled.

They did the inspection 2 weeks ago, now waiting to hear back from Toyota.

Updating. Well, after almost 3 months I have the truck back! Looks nice and shiny underneath. I think the delay was largely Covid related but since I had a new Tacoma rental to use it was painless. New frame/brake lines/leaf springs and 5 pages of additional hardware. Dealer showed me the invoice that they were submitting to Toyota for the work- $14,000.00 (not sure if this included the loaner I was given). I had them replace the rear shocks since it was all apart and with 140k miles it was time. Front were fine. Total additional cost including the shocks was $100. Overall, I'm very happy with the work. In fact when I left the lot I thought it drove better than the new rental I had, it was tight and smooth. Had to revisit the dealer a few days after the job as there was a noticeable 'growl' just above idle. It turned out to be a piece of insulation and cover weren't fastened properly near the engine and there was a vibration causing the sound.
Also worth mentioning again, that I was lucky as I was only a few months away from the extended warranty expiring so I'd encourage anybody that has suspicions to get the frame inspected.

Glad to hear it worked out! I took my 06 to a dealer in 17, and they said it was fine. Went to another dealer in 18, and they said no way it should've passed the previous year. They got it taken care of pretty quickly, but of course we live in different times now. Also, they forgot to put the hose clamp on one of my coolant lines, and I came out to the parking lot after work and found all my coolant on the asphalt. Fixed the clamp easily enough, but still took it back and got a free flush and fill. Pretty sure my invoice was just shy of $15k for everything.

How do they determine "in-service date"? I have a 2009, but the door jamb sticker says it was manufactured Dec 2008. I just contacted a dealer today to get an appointment scheduled, but I didn't get to talk to the service department about a frame inspection yet.

When I called the dealer to make the inspection appointment they verified that I was in the 12 year timeframe based on the VIN. I never gave any thought to manufacture date. Good luck-
