They don't have the stretch that an arb or higher end strap will have

Its a tow strap not a snatch strap....

If it can do this, it must be pretty strong...

You can pull most small cars out of snow with window sash cord. It makes very little difference. Any strap is as good as its rating. The rest is marketing hype. When my snatch straps get old I use them for logging which is much more brutal than pulling a small car out of snow. You want a small tow strap and a big snatch strap in your gear and use the correct one for the job. Read the label.

A wet strap will have less kinetics but still works well. Just do a simple stretch to compress out most of the water if it is truly soaked. And after drying it out it returns to normal.

Single ply nylon will stretch better than 2 ply, 2 ply will be stronger and resist abrasions better. I only trust shackles that have the Crosby name on them or at a very minimum USA. Shit tons of ARB products are made in Chiner. There still pretty good most of the time. UV is wicked hard on rigging so don’t leave laying in the bed of your truck for weeks on end. Dirt will get into the weave and break down the nylon, it’s not a bad idea to hose them offwhen you get home and for gods sake don’t store wet straps.

    Carry on.

Old thread, but a question about recovery straps. Looking at the ARB one and I’m wondering if it’s always a full on “snatch” or if it’s OK to nudge a little with it?

So they way kinetic straps work, is they stretch out. You'd have to travel until it reaches its peak before it'd start to pull and at that point its better off just using a tow strap for nudges. Now if you go at it at a moderate speed, a kinetic strap will be what you want.

Gotcha, so no “one size fits all” kind of thing.

I mean, technically, it'd work, but they say to use the right tool for the right job, so might as well get both. Not super expensive either. I'm running the Rhino Tow Strap, but I've yet to pick up a snatch strap. I have the winch now, and never needed a snatch strap yet, but it's on the list of things I probably need

Guess I will ask, since I found this thread. I'm in the same boat as OP. I don't do any offroading, but thought it would be nice to have a strap onboard to help people who drive dumb in the winter and slide off into the ditch, or their car dies and there's no where close to push them to safely.
What kind of rope would I want for that? I'm not going to be getting anyone out of mud or sand.
