Sorry I didn't end up making it. By the time we got done with my son's class it was ~1040. And the kids just wanted to go swimming.

Looks like it was great time. Would love to join in the next one. Quick question, what do you all recommend having for basic recovery gear? Starting my build with a 2.5" lift and rock sliders as armor right now. Thanks

That should be fine since a couple of the trucks that came were stock.

Attachment points on truck are key,
Tow strap, bow shackles, and a jack are pretty basic.

There's usually enough people there with recovery crap that a stock truck with no extra gear would be just fine.

That's kind of what I would look at as the bare minimum. Somebody in your group should have at least that for gear, and don't count on your factory bottle jack being sufficient, it's barely enough on level pavement, when you get off-road you'll probably be flat in the worst spot possible where the factory jack is useless and a Hi-Lift type of farm jack (and knowing how to properly/safely use it) is necessary.

Yeah he just asked for basic,
I actually carry way too much recovery gear...
    I even carry a comealong:D
Actually the 1 piece of equipment I don't have yet are traction boards:annoyed:
I need to get me some of those.

Yeah, I agree, the point I was trying to make about having a farm jack is important. Without that you could end up in a situation where you don't have any option but to drive/drag a disabled vehicle to a better spot to work on it, potentially increasing the amount of damage done.

That said, the farm jack is also nearly useless without a good jacking point (sliders, bumpers, a wheel sling...).

I'm stock height and was ok both last run and this time - definitely hit my skid plates several times so I would at least suggest a good steel IFS skid. It is so much fun out there, and everyone is super helpful/ friendly. Rob @mach1man001 is especially helpful and spotted a few of us through a little bit of a rockier point..
@littlefish is stock height also, and has a lot more weight than I do.. He mentioned he hit his skids a bunch also.

I've got a hitch receiver and shackle, and also have @SOS CONCEPTS front recovery point incase I need to get yanked from the front. Also have a snatch strap. That's about it for my 'recovery' gear. I am new to off roading so I am slowly building everything up. I never plan on going out unless its with this group so I know I'd be in good hands if need be.
You should definitely come out next time!
It was nice to put a face to the name.
