Ricey Taco

I have a 2003 4cyl with an original exhaust (I knew it was rusted to shit). I was driving home today hit a bump, and bam best sounding exhaust I've ever heard on a 4cyl (makes me not wanna redo my exhaust like I was planning on). When I got home I inspected it and found that the tailpipe from the muffle back was dangling. I removed it, and the best sounding 4cyl was born. Its a little ricey in the higher rpms but the idle down sounds great and at idle it sounds almost stock. The best sound is around 2500 or 3000. Gotta listen to it a little more from the outside but sounds pretty good right now. Oh forgot to mention my cat creates almost no back pressure due to it being absolutely shot, helps the noise

 

my tailpipe fell off completely on the trip to Florida after xmas. I also have a hole before the 2nd cat that adds a bit of burble sound

 

Unfortunately you will lose some torque performance without the back pressure that the muffler and tailpipe provides.

 

He said all he removed was the tailpipe, which was loose from the muffler. Muffler and cat are still on the truck to some degree, anyway.

Shouldn't sound any different than it did before, except louder since now the underside of the bed is now an echo chamber.

Cool story.

 

Exactly a bit more echo and since there is no tailpipe at all past the muffler I'm assuming it is a bit more free flowing.

 

I dont think that bit of pipe is very restrictive..
