Richloam WMA Info & Meet Thread

Well, I don't want to call it before I see it. Spencer is pretty familiar with the place so maybe he knows where to go if the portions I'm familiar with are too deep. But if it's as bad as it sounds like it's going to be, having a Plan B will give us a fall back.

 

Cops are cracking down on Red Rock from what has been said on Facebook.

 

Kinda cops that will get stuck and let you pull them out just so the can write a ticket

New personal rule: See a cop stuck while I'm off-roading, ask first: "If I pull you out are you going to give me a ticket? If the answer is "yes" then I will respond: "Well, just give me my ticket and enjoy your wait for the tow truck."

Back in my day, if the cops shut down a place we went to play off road, they'd just roll up and tell everyone to leave and don't come back. If one of your group was stuck, they'd even let you stay and until they were recovered, even if you had to wait for a tow truck.

Hell, on time, a friend got stuck in a place he wasn't supposed to be and he called me to come get him. By the time I got there there was a cop there reading him the riot act, but he still let me go in the forbidden area to pull my friend out and neither one of us got tickets.

 

Unfortunately times have changed and so have cops. Just like if you got pulled over after having one to many they would follow you home or have you call someone to come and pick you up.

 

I haven't had any luck getting that weekend off yet but it is definitely a good idea to a have a back up plan I know how richloam gets I grew up out there just about every weekend with my uncle taking us out in his wagoneer

Should I add you to the list? I'll be honest, I fully expect this to end up at ONF (Ocala National Forest). With all the rain, I have a feeling that anything less than an amphibious vehicle or a swamp buggy is going to be screwed.

 

not quite yet; I just checked my calendar and I may have a conflict on Friday, but I would still probably come out Saturday. That works for me as well, I watched a few videos from previous meets and some of those mudholes I probably would've skipped lol.

 

I drove up to Richloam on Saturday and messed around for a bit - it was pretty wet but the storm hadn't arrived yet when I was there (Saturday AM)..... Not sure if I'll be able to make the meetup but would love to be on the list if possible. Thanks!

 

This is just a Saturday Meet. It's just that some of the guys are coming from so far away they want to camp out so they don't have to get up so early to make it to the meet, haha.

Well, I guess I'm going with the ghetto option. It's so dicked up, I don't want to spend a lot on fancy supplies to fix it, lol.


So I'll just be packing it with JB Weld and hoping for the best. If it works, I'll run it until I have the whole damn thing packed with JB Weld and it won't cool the coolant anymore, and then put my good spare in.

Yeah no doubt. I wish they made one with the cowled in electric fan, you know the the ones that come as all one unit. That way I could shut the fan off when fording deep water.

 

I may or may not still have that dented one from Hardrock that I took off my truck. I'll have to look if you want it... still worked. just dented

 

Thanks for the offer, but I have the one I pulled out of the T4R and replaced as a precaution. It looked pretty clean inside, so when the current one is too dicked up to function, I'm gonna put that one in. I'll just have to plug off the trans cooler nipples.
