All of you guys have AT LEAST a 3 in strap or equivalent, correct?

Also, here's a little primer on how to pull not to pull someone out vs how TO pull someone out. I know most of you guys are experienced enough to know how it works, but if someone is really mired or their engine is drowned and they have to be pulled out dead, you might need to get aggressive. Here's how it's done...

    https://youtu.be/GwHcHxC88jc?list=PLMZVa3vsCvMRU7qfgiIgiq9_cy0EV-eMa&t=451

Also, notice when I had to repeatedly snatch on Frank to get him out, I moved over a little each time so I wasn't dropping into my own ruts and loosing momentum.

Actually, Ryan's video showed me moving over more thank Thorny Mike's did, but if you listen to the first video, @Thorny Mike knows his shit. If I only knew half the shit he does at his age, I would have probably been spared a lot of hiking, haha.

And yeah, @LMarshall73 that was the same strap you had said looked like it had seen better days, frays and all taking the full force of those yanks like it was nothing. It'll fail some day, I'm sure which is why I have a back up, but it's still a tough old bastard.

Wuss. :luvya: And here I was just going to post that the two people I most respect on TW are you for your truck building skills and @michaelrussell for his No Fear, Balls-to-the-wall, wheeling style and his intelligence.
Haha, don't worry, I still have mad respect for you. :fistbump: I'm still crushingly disappointed that I won't get to see the Q-tip wading through the deep water. She needs a bath to clean the suspension off and she'll never be cleaner than sitting in flowing water for a few minutes.

Edit: I should say that there are three people I respect above everyone else on TW, @allenfab , @michaelrussell , and @GuyHuey . I got a lot of respect for a lot of others like @Timbo's Customs and @Rattletrap66 , and others, but those first three are definitely at the top of the list.

Think I'm going to play with my rear brakes today. Kinda sick of them not working. Gonna try wiring the rod from the LSPV to the bottom of the bed, bleeding the LSPV again, and then bleeding the rear wheel cylinders. Even though it's probably a waste of time doing it right before Richloam, I might even pull the drums and wash them out. If none of that makes any difference, and I honestly don't think it will, I think after the trip when I do my post season cleaning, I'm going to try replacing my wheel cylinders. I'm just sick to death of having to threshold brake just to stop moderately quickly with just the front brakes.

And then I get in the T4R and step on the brakes and they damn near put me through the windshield. Something is definitely not right with the Taco and it's not just because Swampers.

I have rear brakes now! :yay::yes::woot::taco::rockband:

It was that stupid LSPV. I wired the arm up to the bottom of the bed and now I'm not just breaking with the front. Don't need that thing on a crawler anyway. Stuff the right side and you have rear brakes. Stuff the left side and you got only the fronts.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
I wonder if that's why my rear brakes suck. I'll have to try wiring it up and if that works bypass it completely at some point.

Recovery gear wise, I have one snatch strap, a few treesavers, snatch blocks, shackles, and my winch. I also have shovels, a hi-lift, and traction boards if needed. I've also got a 12,000lb More Power Puller with synthetic line that I might toss in as well.

Have you ever used a come along for recovery just wondering.
Edit I guess a Hi-Lift can be used as the same principal.

I have. Which is why I now have a winch.

This was back in '96 or '97. 2wd S-10, inline 4, manual transmission. 6 hours with a 2-ton come along. Hence the last picture. The shorter guy (Ranger) picked the line. Taller guy (Marine) disliked his recommendation.

I've used both. We had to use the hi-lift winch on @michaelrussell when he got crossed up on a steep downhill and was the last truck in the line. I almost had to use it a couple saturdays ago, but I got lucky with a text relay so LeeM saved me from having to do that.

Way back not quite in the day but not to far from it, I got stuck in my Bronco and this crazy, but very very kind (and drunk) soul used a come-a-long with his buddy's truck as an anchor to pull me out. It didn't take six hours, but I felt really bad for him and I kept offering to do the work and let my soon-to-be-wife at the time before she became the Ex drive the Bronco, but he kept refusing and eventually he got me to the point where I dug my way out under my own power. I think the problem was I was 4WD on 35s and my strap wasn't long enough for any of the trucks out there which all seemed to be either 2wd or on street tires to get to me. Haha.

Any preference on a come along or a Hi-lift. I assume the Hi-lift would recover your truck faster.
