Is there anywhere I can find your friend's tubbed tacoma? Really interested in how much is involved in that. Less Lift + Bigger Tires = Dream come true

It's honestly the way to go. Low and wide and your drivetrain will always be happier for it!

Thanks! I'm digging your reg cab tacoma. Love those!

    Now photo catchup:

    It's been a while Doug.

The sun has been shining and I have been turning wrenches. Thought today was a good day to stretch the legs.

Truck is basically bumped perfectly on all 4 corners right now. Just need to get a longer shackle in there and maybe some leaves with more arch and better spring rate for all the weight I carry. More deets coming on the shackle flip kit from Archive Garage very soon!

Some actual photos of my week's progress. The Storage platform is officially back in the truck. Still a couple minor minor details to wrap up but they are items I can do at a later date. Dave, my friend who did the bulk of the craftsmanship is considering starting a small business out of his garage here in Calgary to do similar custom projects such as this. If your local, and have any interest send me a PM and I can get you in touch with him.

Here it is. Looks quite similar to what it was previous, but the beauty is definitely in the details now. I had cracking along the lateral lines of the butcherblock countertop due to dryness and the lack of bracing underneath the overhang area of the floor. You will notice the ends are now capped to mitigate splitting as well as a leg has been added for support along the overhang area. The channel below the overhang makes a wicked storage spot for guns, fishing rods, or my Hi-Lift.

Actual latch and piano hinge added to reduce vibration of the door. Used a Battalion latch (these things are badass!) and finally wired in the BlueSea dual USB port seen top left. The LED toggle switch powers the dual fans used to suck any hot air out from behind the platform for those hot summer days when the inverter is running.

Metal overlay for the dual fans that is countersunk for a smooth finish:

One of my favourite details, the Cedar "mantle" for the top cap. We laid this super nice piece of wood down and cut it so it is within 1/16" of the back glass. We then inset a piece of aluminum to act as a lip, so that any items I place up there (like my phone while it's charging) will not slip and fall off the top.

Panel opened up to the BlueSea fuse block and inverter:

    UPDATE

Looks like my rear suspension isn't done quite yet. Working with Eric at Archive Garage and testing his new shackle flip has been great, and I really am SO happy with the rear suspension right now. However, it's still not perfect as the truck still sags when it's fully loaded with camping gear. I carry 4-500lbs of gear including the RTT and bed cage so the next step in the rear suspension evolution is a custom leaf pack. I was approached to test a new Deaver pack for the 1st Gen Tundra that will incorporate a small amount of lift over stock and allow for 500lbs of load carrying capacity. Exciting news for us Tundra people as I would expect this to become a viable "off the shelf" option once all the testing is complete. I'll be providing before/after measurements and some real life comparisons once the leafs show up. There will be a few other items in the works before my big yearly wheeling trip coming up.

Just got back from a week of vacay. Didnt offroad as much as I though originally but did spend 3 days living out of the truck in the backcountry. A couple pics of the trip and one last photo to show the rear bar installed on my cage with some brackets I fabbed up to hold my 4ft. ARB awning. Being tall, its high enough I dont have to duck to walk under the awning, but still allowing it to sit below the top of the RTT. Another great product from ARB; I can't believe how sturdy the awning is once it's open.

    Pics...

Looking good brotha! How do you like the Toyo MTs for winter driving? I'm considering jumping up to those from the AT2, but am slightly concerned about winter driving abilities with the MT due to less siping

Loving the truck. I really like where you have the awning. Is it the 4ft one?

Thanks man! The Toyo's are my favorite tire that I've ever ran and I've ran a ton BUT they are still an MT and winter performance is decent, at best. They sure are good in the deep stuff though.

Lol Thanks Rob. We should meet up next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Dad's 2nd Gen Tundra is pretty nice. Comfy for sure but I'm trying to get him to get some SCS for it to liven it up!

Thank you sir. I am also really digging the awning location. Looks better IMO as it's not hanging off one side. Its perfect cause I use the tailgate as my kitchen when I'm camping. Yes, it is the 4ft.

I love this Tundra. If I had to get a full size this body style would be the one. Keep it up!

Uh, that's a Tundra...also the dimensions of the AC 1st gen tundra and AC 2nd gen Tacoma are pretty similar. The 2nd gen tundra 07-16 is much larger.

Yes, typo. I meant Tundra, why I was referring to full size.

Damn man that sucks, but I definitely know that decision. That's why I got rid of the 4runner for my Tundra. You thinking of getting another wheeler but 4 door or we looking at the swagger wagons...? Haha

Btw that price is ridiculous, so freaking cheap for the work put into it.

Not a bad way to go. If I had to buy another SUV it would be a GX470. I love those things.

Good luck with the next build (if you're planning on building it as well).
