Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out if I have a lift in the rear. I parked next to another 4x4 Tacoma today and noticed my rear looked noticeably taller. So now I'm just confused. I looked underneath the rear and don't see anything.

My guess would be you have lots of life left in rear leaf springs and or they were replaced prior to you getting the truck. Compared to other stock 1st gens with factory springs that have never been changed.

Some of this Some of that
I see no lift of any sort. Like he said they might have been changed, or in great shape. You should lift it anyway though!

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
No lift and naturally the trucks come with a rake. Lower up front and higher in the rear due to hauling in the bed and towing.

Cool, thanks guys. I plan on replacing the rear with a dakar leaf pack and didn't want to risk lifting it too high

What are you putting up front if you are getting Dakars in the rear?

As the others mentioned, there's no lift. The truck might have had an easy life before you owned it or the springs have been replaced before. I'm digging the chrome OEM wheels. They definitely look tougher without the center caps.

881's with 5100's and Dakars you'll be just like you are now. Rear rake or higher than the front. Some people prefer that. I like it leveled.

    really? tell me more :D

Carlos! you all good brotha, odds are the other taco had dead leafs. if you look at the mounted angles of 1st gen leafs, they're already oddly flat off the factory floor. over time they sag...bad.

maybe your front is just really low?

Now to add more to the confusion, I installed the front suspension earlier and initially it had the bro stance, so I took it out in the dirt to get the suspension to settle a little bit and now it it sits pretty level. The front ride height from floor to bottom of the fender is half an inch lower than the rear. So now I have no idea what to do with the rear. I don't know whether to get 5100's or 5125's, or to even bother getting a new leaf pack

that looks pretty damn level. your leafs must have a lot of life left in them if that's how it looks after a 2" lift. if you're content with level, I would at least replace the shocks to match the front, that way all four are apart of the same set.

if you want a little lift you could try new shackles or an AAL or the spring refurbishment by 4WD.

Yeah looks like I'm gonna get a 1.5 aal from wheelers. Anything more than that I would think it would have too much of a rake

Thats a great condition taco right there. I have maybe the slightest of OE rake left. Coming into work I saw a taco just like yours with what looked like a lot of OE spring health left- it had a healthy rake.

I don't like the bro lean so I have a wheelers 3 leaf AAL on standby for when I use my 5100s for lift. I actually like a little bit of rake (once in a blue moon I do use my truck as a truck) so I might even add a shackle to the mix if need be.

Nice, yeah I'm in the same boat. I still use the truck as a truck so sone rake would be good because I would hate to load the truck up and end up with a bro stance
