I've seen some people on here say that 255s load range E are barely noticeable compared to C ratings if the PSI is right. I'm torn between 285/70/17 and 255/80/17 mainly based on on-road ride quality. My truck is a daily driver 95% of the time, so I need something fairly comfortable and not like an old wooden desert wagon. Has anyone ran both of these two sizes and have a comparison or opinion to give? Thanks!

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I’ve only run the 285s in C load - KO2 weighs 51lbs for years and I’m trying the Falken Wildpeak AT3W in C load but weighs a fat 61lbs. Better mpg with the KO2, the Falken is a touch quieter on the highway. Ive never had an issue with wet traction running KO2s and the Falkens have been fine as well.
255 Cooper ST Maxx in E is the kind of tire you use to survive a nuclear blast haha, super tough, 58lbs.
C load airing down I didn’t notice sidewall flex at 20lbs, have to go lower to get some.
E load 255 is going to be pretty low to get flex out of it.
What 255s were you looking at ?
I should add that I usually buy the Jeep Rubicon takeoffs, lots of guys go 35 or 37s off the lot. Save big bucks that way for people on a budget.

I was looking at the Open Country RT Trail or Nitto Ridge Grapplers. The RTs in 255/80/17 E load are surprisingly only 52 lbs. If I could find these tires in C load in this size then it wouldn't even be a question.

For sure, strength and good weight are hard to find. Toyos are tough.
