I would sometimes remove my front seats from my truck just to vacuum and clean the carpet underneath. It was like digging for treasure because I would find loose change and if I was lucky, the lost fry that I ordered two months ago. Funny, they taste the same even after two months under the seat.

Well hell, if she's mad at me she'll just have to get over it, I'm busy. No seriously, we've been putting up with each other's eccentricities for 30 years come September something (I'll have to ask my daughter, she won't tell). If I find my Tinker Toy amusing, I'm sure my wife knows there are worse things I could be obsessed with. They say an idle mind is the devil's workshop, and if I weren't preoccupied with creative options for a truck build, I'd be capable of getting into more serious trouble than her being mad at me for laying on my back in the driveway, instead of watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette/Kardashians/whatever with her. Now sometimes I will make an effort and watch a little "Dancing With The Stars".

I could have written all thees posts. Same things that I have dealt with for 25 years of of wonderful marige (wonderful in case she reads this). Men are hunters and we like to get things done. When we get up in the morning we think of the things that we have to do and we go do them because if we don't do it today we have to do it tomorrow. We can't get up and say "hay babe my truck needs an oil change. Can you do it for me?". Right! The reason that these women are by our side is because we can get shit done and we make things happen. When things break we fix them. When things are working we break them just so we can fix them. Don't apologize for who we are. Next time something breaks and its bought to your attention to fix just look at them and say " I don't know how to fix that". Watch the WTF look that you are going to get and that's when you say. That's why you love me cause I can get shit done. :headbang:

Aged, like fine wine. I just use my air compressor to blow that shit out. And then after the dust settles, I blow it out again. Then after the dust settles, I blow it out again. Then after the dust settles ........

Inclination and capability oft go hand in hand. She could change the oil if she wanted to.

After removing my mother's sofa skirt off my new truck, I painted the (I don't know what to call it) pinch line below the rocker panels flat black on my SSM. I also put in some black plastic hole plugs to cover the holes in the frame that were visible below the rocker panels, because I didn't like seeing daylight thru them. I removed all my mud flaps. I removed the black plastic scuff guards off the leading bottom edge on the outside of the bed. I peeled off all the visible white factory paper tags on the frame and rear diff.

There's no accounting for taste, as they say. Tube steps would look appropriate on a lifted truck, IMO. But I'm not there yet.

See Jimbo, I'm always torn between aesthetics and function. I like sliders in concept, but if you suck em in tight to the rockers to appeal to my eye, they begin to lose some functionality, both as body armor and as a step for a lifted truck. Nice color truck, by the way.

Working on the truck mostly fun. I like projects and creative problem solving. When it stops being fun, I'll stop. :D Wife told me yesterday that it will never stop. I think she is right.

I've noticed those screws on the bumper as well. I noticed that mine were rusty looking though.....time to find some replacement screws to swap them out as I don't like the way it looks. Going to be fun trying to unscrew them.

Oh I am liking this thread.
The wife thinks I'm crazy and insists I love my truck more than her. I hear crap from her all the time or the common head shake and walk away like someone else mentioned. It is my one and only hobby though (literally) and one that I can say I really never prioritize anymore simply because I don't want to tick her off.

But yeah I used to be real OCD about my truck and always wanted it clean and always tweaked on it. Now due to the guilt she places on me I only clean my truck maybe once a month, which kills big time.

The worst part of all this, my wife is the most non-materialistic women I know. So unlike most guys who married a women who blows money on crap like purses, nails, hair, clothing...... she does none of this. So basically I got nothing on her, the woman is almost darn near perfect and the only knuckle head in the relationship is me. As crazy as this will sound, sometimes I wish she were into the purses and crap so I wouldn't feel so bad about the spending money on my truck.

So yeah I'm obsessed with my truck, but I can realize the importance of doing what I can to not go over board with this obsession so that my focus remains on what matters most, my family. Too often I see husbands focus primarily on their hobbies and that does not make for a happy wife nor life.

my biggest OCD with my truck is parking. Parking and leaving your truck in a lot is where damage is likely to happen. I never leave my truck close to busy areas/other idiots. I park away from congestion, shopping carts, dead/weak tree limbs, and just walk further. At work I am somewhat forced to park near people, But I park next to a coworkers passenger side(nobody will be opening a door on that side) and leave plenty of room on my other side. And if all else fails, I have my bolt on sliders, and door mouldings to stop doors.
